Segway x2 Personal Transporter Review

Ғылым және технология

The price is (mega) steep, but if you can swallow it, its a super fun toy.

No counterweights mate its done by 5 gyroscopes and computers scanning your movements 100 times a second, The technology for Segway developed here at BAE system's Plymouth.

I just have to correct you on one thing. Segways do NOT have counterweights. To keep the rider balanced, the pt will turn the wheels to move forwards or backwards, keeping the segway underneath you, instead of infront or behind

No counter weights bro. The Segway used Gyroscopic rigidity and precession to maintain stability...

Provo home-towner here :) Thanks for the review! Looks like a fun way to get around town seeing as most of my trips are urban and sometimes go through narrow or more pedestrian area. Good coverage of how it works and what to expect :) I'm assuming it could handle the hilly areas North-East of the temple just fine?

I also am working on owning my 6th bike, last two are 650, they too are great n lotsO fun. However the SegWay is just as great but more pedestrian friendly on sidewalks n in crowds. Actually been considering building a small trailer to tow behind my 650 Suzuki Burgman to haul the SegWay.....?

Just last week I rolled 1,000 miles on my X2 after 3 years owning it. It is both amazing technology along with being a vary well built n crafted machine. The SegWay is an extremely unique riding experience in many ways much more enjoyable that a Ninja 250 (I also ride/own a 650 Burgman). My biggest gripe is that I need to ride solo all the time - never found a $2,000 X2 like this man did. Yes it is pricy but obviously a price I was willing to pay and I sure understand how you feel the way you do

On the contrary, I ride mine each day (weather permitting). I have taken it to Oshkosh's Air Venture, taken it on abandon railroad beds, had it in Halloween parades ridden it down the local ski area trails in the summer, it has been the hit of a few parties, had it at the legendary Carlisle antique car show, had it a few time at the Jacktown antique steam engine show, had it at Ft. Indiantown Nat. Cemetary, the list goes on n on, got a thousand miles on mine n still ahving tons O fun with it.

The crazy thing is if you're going too fast in turtle mode, it'll actually tip you backwards a little bit to keep you from going any faster. It's weird when you first feel it but it's pretty cool. I think the normal speed mode is rabbit mode if I remember correctly.

I find it funny how mad people are at you for missing a couple points and just owning the thing. I say rock on, man. I plan to own one myself in less than a week. They are very much fun and in addition: cost a hell of a lot less to use than a car if you don’t go many places or very far. Not to mention it is a great way to get socially active and have a pretty decent way to get from point A to point B and point C to point D (point B and C being made by a long distance method like public transport). Hope you still enjoy it. I would say, though, do a little more research into it, it is even more complicated than you explained.

@rishirocky111 Yes, needing to choose between either one, I agree, the Ninja is more fun because more useable in distance the vechile is usable. Luckily having both I am not forced to make this choice. Now if I could only get that Seg trailer for my Suzuki a reality, that would be neat.....

@Greno X2 is over $7000 by the time you add a little to it & pay the tax. That's the price of 2006 AWD Subaru! or a 2007 Chrysler minivan. But hey, if they want to sit & wait months for a customer to show up then who are we to tell them not to?!

there are no 'counter weights' inside. why are you misleading people? there are separate processors for each wheel, where input is the pressure on the pad+gyroscope reading, and output is balancing control (to and fro motion) of the motors.

FYI: GM did not purchase the rights to this model SegWay. There is a newer similar device that you are talking about, but NOT this (x2 n i2) model. Sadly, your vary last words in you video are all so true. The cost of this device has stopped it's proliferation tremendously. And as the standard of living continues to decreases for all the the wealthy in our once great nation, virtually all non essential necessities of life will continue to dwindle. I sure hope I am wrong.

You are paying for the technology & convenience not practicality. Stop comparing the Segway to motorcycles or cars. Obviously this doesn't make sense if you need a car/bike for transport. This is to replace WALKING in a urban area, your comments about what bike you could get for the same $ are just il-informed and stupid.

Just last week I rolled 1,000 miles on my X2 after 3 years owning it. It is both amazing technology along with being a vary well built n crafted machine. The SegWay is an extremely unique riding experience in many ways much more enjoyable that a Ninja 250. My biggest gripe is that I need to ride solo all the time - never found a $2,000 X2 like this man did. Yes it is pricy but obviously a price I was willing to pay and I sure understand how you feel the way you do.
