That’s the point - compared to most other countries the disruption is minimal.. No sirens, no sealing off huge chunks of the city.. This one is an exception with lots of vehicles, but they normally move very efficiently without disturbing the day-to-day life of Londoners.. Most of us never really notice them..

I'm not really sure what value they add to the Commonwealth anymore . I'm sure many others don't share the same view and that's OK. Perhaps too much sentimental feelings. I only see added expenses and no real return on expenses.

You don't pay for it, they pay for it themselves throuh the crown estate and sovereign grant, but you wouldn't know what that is because it's too much research.
