From running in the Olympics to running reactors, Paul Terek has found a home at Diablo Canyon.
Terek is a former decathlete who competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
After an injury sidelined his career, he turned to his engineering degree from Michigan State University to land a job at Diablo Canyon as a reactor operator and also joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union.
Terek's job at the plant was in jeopardy with news that the plant would shut down, but thanks to state action and a conditional Civil Nuclear Credit award from the U.S. Department of Energy, the plant is expected to extend operations.
