George Michael's original is a beautiful song that will never be replaced. But this just gives it a completely different, haunting, epic vibe. One of my favorite Seether tracks.

So true! George Michael's song reminds me about the first time feeling embarrassed before a crush. Seether's version feels like I just horribly and irreversibly messed up my life. And I love it.

I feel so unsure As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor As the music dies Something in your eyes Calls to mind a silver screen And all its sad goodbyes I'm never gonna dance again These guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Time can never mend The careless whispers of a good friend To the heart and mind Ignorance is kind There's no comfort in the truth Pain is all you'll find I'm never gonna dance again These guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should have known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you Tonight the music seems so loud I wish that we could lose this crowd Maybe it's better this way We've hurt each other with the things we want to say We could have been so good together We could have lived this dance forever Now who's gonna dance with me? Please stay I'm never gonna dance again These guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool I should've known better than to cheat a friend And waste this chance that I've been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you

Sitting here at home, severely depressed for the last 5-6 years after having struggled with depression since age 10 and now age 30, this song hits hard... it allows me to cry, to let flow my pain, my emotions, my sadness, grief, anger and uncontrollable melancholy... The times where I lived my life, the time before my first ex broke my heart, the ex's that followed that had so much pain and grief with it, but I pushed through... then covid hit, I finally cracked big time... I've been up and down, meds, no meds, anti depressants, switching to a new one in the hospital several months ago and now going through the pain of switching once more at home. These past few weeks have been hell... I've got a friend of mine to visit, she loves me I can tell... but my emotions, anxiety and insecurity of my future is all I find... The lyrics "I'm never gonna dance again, these guilty feet have got no rythm" resonate with me on a whole different level than most could even imagine, yet I'm writing this in the hopes that a like minded soul will read this and find strength in the fact that you're not alone out there, there are others like you. And right now it seems nigh impossible for me to recover, but I know I can.. I've seen the light before and I can see the light again eventually... I feel hurt, broken, alone even though Ive got a loving family, but the pain and sadness I'm going through is unbearable to go through alone, yet with someone who loves me so close by I cant even get it in my head to be able to fullfill her desires of exploring my country. I'm sitting here home alone now while they're out there, hoping theyre having a good time, but its just been tears today... I try and try so much yet... it feels hopeless. But the demon inside me can fuck off, I'm myself and I'm trying my damnest to make it through every single day. The song hits home with the fact that I've had so many friends that I've become estranged to due to pulling back in my own bubble, to minimize the uncontrollable emotions I'm experiencing... Suicidal thoughts, fear of losing more people, fear of letting people down, fear of not becoming better, fear of not being able to work again in my life since I've been declared unfit to work... that I'll be a medication zombie the rest of my life and yet even that seems bleak.... Benzodiapines are my life line now yet even they cant numb me enough to get me through the day without my anxiety and fears.... I'm sorry for this wall of text but I suddenly got hit by an uncontrollable sense of grief, saddness, sorrow and pain and I felt that I needed to put this out there, at least just for myself so I can get the words down when I'm at my lowest... to document the pain... the struggle and to be able to one day look back at this with a smile, instead of looking back at my best with constant sadness of missed opportunites and feeling like a complete and utter failure.... to whomever might read this.. thank you for taking the time. I dont plan on leaving this world anytime soon, I'm getting the help I'm needed at the end of this month hopefully and I'm calling the hospital right now to discuss if I can do anything to help myself through this weekend. you matter in life and so do I, the string of light I'm desperately clinging onto

Holy shit dude, you just almost perfectly described how I'm feeling this last couple of years. 30 too and it's only gotten so much worse. Came out of a 4 year relationship 4 months ago and I still haven't recovered. Even before that I am.... Bad, very bad mentally. It's why my relationship ended. All my days are just anxiety, depression, negative thoughts, cycle and repeat. I don't feel like a person or even properly "alive" anymore. Don't worry about your wall of text, it got through to somebody. We'll see if I make it through the month but I'm sure I'll at least make it through the night.

My new meds are starting to work, that being my anti depressants and at least for now I'm feeling more calm , stable and able to tackle some therapy which will start at the end of the month. I'm hoping that my possible positive outlook can give you strength and know that one day you'll be able to look back at today with a smile and a sense of pride knowing you didn't give in .
