Seems everyone knows this Transylvanian Hungarian folk song, even Freddie Mercury
It’s striking for many visitors to Transylvania. The way Hungarians, young and old, hold fast to tradition. It’s part of maintaining their national identity. When it comes to traditions, they all know their roots. And nowhere is that more apparent than in their folk music. We asked random people if they knew one of our favorite folk songs. Here’s what we heard.

This is the first Hungarian folk song my Hungarian wife taught me - on our honeymoon in Hungary in 1998. : )
Born in Canada. Fell in love with and married a wonderful Hungarian woman. She took me to her homeland and I finally found my home. I have travelled throughout the world and never have I felt more at home than when in Magyaroszag. God bless!

@Hilda Hilpert They dont, I use google translate all the time for music titles and words in Slovak and Hungarian to English, and geez, at times it chokes and has no clue what some words mean, and at other times its laughable, or makes no sense. I know some church songs that I translated the titles of translated what should have been God or lord into "Mr" LOL! another odd thing was I noticed if I changed things in a title, like take out a comma, one word, or even cap or decap a letter- it changed the meaning of the whole thing!

!Just a couple of years late! Lyrics of song in Hungarian A tavaszi erdők özönvizet hoznak drágám, drágám Minden madár társat választ drágám, drágám hát kit válasszak, drágám, drágám te választasz engem választalak kedvesem, drágám a zöld szalag könnyű ruhát csinál drágám, drágám, mert könnyen fújja a szél drágám, drágám, de a fátyol nehéz ruhát tesz drágám, drágám, mert a bánat a földre rántja, kedvesem, drágám

Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt, virágom, virágom Minden madár társat választ, virágom, virágom Hát én immár kit válasszak, virágom, virágom Te engemet, én tégedet, virágom, virágom Zöld pántlika könnyű gúnya, virágom, virágom Mert azt a szél könnyen fújja, virágom, virágom De a fátyol nehéz gúnya, virágom, virágom Mert azt a bú földig húzza, virágom, virágom

He is not Transylvanian, not Romanian, but Hungarian. Let's get over it. Stuffed cabbage is Hungarian, pálinka is Hungarian, and our folk music is also Hungarian FUCK ME..........Nem erdélyi nem román hanem Magyar. Szokjunk már le erről . Magyar a töltött káposzta Magyar a pálinka és Magyar a népzenénk is BASSZA MEG.
All these comments about hate and who was there first etc. I have news for you ... the Jewish people were there at least 600 years before the Magyars even set foot on the land. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

@Life Invader Yeah, they will, and it's good for you and for us too, because the territory is ours and you get money.
