Seeking Paradise in Ensenada - Low Cost of Living in Mexico - Early Retirement Expats

Hi! We are Dianne, Guillermo and Che seeking paradise in Ensenada, Mexico. (Che missed out on this trip). It is located on the Baja California peninsula only 70 miles south of San Diego. Hassle free living in Ensenada, like I living in the States with US car and Bank Account, and with cheaper rent. Living on and off with 180 days TC, for several decades now. Nobody ever wanted to see it, except border crossing on foot.

one of the better videos, less the loud music. Nothing about families relocating, and the availability of private schools?

Thank you! This is one of our early videos...the sound is much better now. 😁 Our son is grown so we are not researching schools. We know there are American schools in the major Mexican cities though since we lived in Guadalajara.

Another great video. My wife and I moved to Chapala 6 months ago. We love Guadalajara, btw. We're now looking at Ensenada because it's closer to our kids in San Diego. I also notice you say it falls short in the category of distance to the beach. Oversight? We're going to check out Ensenada in October. Thanks for the background info.

Thanks for watching! Chapala is a wonderful area. We gave Ensenada a checkmark for distance to the beach but I see at the end that we mistakenly had an X in the list. Best of luck with your decision.

Mexico is more civilized than I thought! Though y'all are probably just showing us the best parts, and leaving out all the squalor and crime.

there are bad areas and crime in Mexico like any other country, much is exaggerated and also accurate, but we noticed is far more different than what the rest of the world perceives. We loved it there for many reasons and we did talk about being burglarized in our Guadalajara video, but it could have happened anywhere really. It all comes down to being aware of your surroundings no matter where you live ☺️.

Wife and I couldn’t get through the video. The music volume is overwhelming. The music type was annoying, and we were struggling to hear the narration at times. We’re not in our 80’s, early 40’s. Maybe this was the informative video we’ve been looking for. We’ll never know.

You went to tourist stuff. And Pai pai exploits those animals for the sake of a few bucks. Did you check out Los Adoptables it was about 1000 feet to your left. Animal shelter who take in abused and abandoned dogs and cats. The blowhole is lovely

We realized about Pai Pai as we looked around. It actually made us discuss how we do not want to support any type of business like this in the future and will research sanctuaries more in depth from now on before visiting. Thanks for watching!

thank you! we actually don't own much since we sold most of it when we retired in 2018. But in Mexico there are plenty of moving companies and individual movers, called "fletes". We joined "Expats living in Mexico" Facebook group and asked for recommendations when we moved neighborhoods in Guadalajara. We also had a car and drove our stuff around as well 👍🏼

Do you think you can get the background music any louder...you may make it possible to not hear a thing you are saying. The blasting music adds nothing and in fact is distracting. Learn to not think if a little is good, then a lot is better.

@@SeekingParadiseBugs Currently I'm in Mauritius and I can say it's been a major issue here as well, it smells like algae in 3 places out of 4 I've been. Considering Ensenada but don't want to be faced with water problems as this is pretty much the very basis of life, to have good water to wash things with.

  • @SeekingParadiseBugs

We didn´t filter our water pipes when we lived in Mexico so we had to purchase water to drink and cook with. We haven´t been to Mauritius yet. How do you like other aspects of livinng there?

@@SeekingParadiseBugs In Mauritius when it smelled pretty bad I realized I had to rinse the dishes a second time with purchased water to get rid of the layer of tap water in drinking cups for example for the tea to taste normal, there are definitely degrees to this... That was some next level shit. It's one thing when you shouldn't drink it, another when you shouldn't even wash in it... Mauritius has beautiful beaches and sceneries but if you are thinking of coming here to work online for a year or more and to spend at most 2500$CAD per month on average, just forget it. When you look at rentals online it looks affordable and like a great deal overall, but when you come here your eyes become trained to see through these ads... really I think you would have to spend at least 5000CAD a month to live in acceptable conditions that would make sense. Even then, the internet had problems in all places I've been, either it completely cut, or slowed down, making work impossible even with my.t the main service provider with average download speed of 50mo/sec. Amazing how many grocery stores have almost nothing, are disorganized and how a lot of things are very dirty and poorly kept or absolutely on their last straw since long time in airbnbs and grocery stores. I've done 4 small airbnbs and it is just impossible to get something ok for 70CAD a day or less renting a week or a month at a time. It looks nice in picture but that's a deception. You also get water cuts. I'm only scratching the surface here. There's no way in the world you cannot find a better deal in another country where your life will be freer of problems so that you may concentrate on your work and progress. Nice beaches, looks like a great offer, but avoid it unless you have a lot of money to spend 5kCAD minimum per month or just want to vacation by the beach. Maybe it would make some great youtube content to set the record straight also... I am leaving tomorrow, a month and a day later after arriving and I came here to stay for 13 months minimum originally... They litterally made me sick, very dirty unkept airbnbs, absolutely disgusting, anybody would have gotten sick from that mold and that stagnant water left in that dirty tank for many months, which they make you pay to come live and wash in...
