HIGH-RESOLUTION THERMAL IMAGING FOR FIREFIGHTERS
When every second counts and lives are on the line, firefighters need every tool possible to increase their operation speed and enhance their situational awareness. For years, thermal imaging has been a vital firefighting technology, however mass-adoption has been cost-prohibitive. Introducing the Reveal FirePRO, Seek’s high-resolution personal TIC with a 320 x 240 thermal sensor and intuitive software, priced for every firefighter's gear bag.

A lot has changed since I was structural firefighter. I'm retired firefighter I came across this video by algorithm. I was firefighter 2 and I was mainly interior guy. We didn't have these gadgets in my days as fireman in the mid 90s

Defiantly not a replacement to an NFPA compliant TIC on a crew. As an enhancement to the crew served imager, it does a fair job. For the departments looking at this being the only imager they use, take a really good thermal imagery training program based in the real life application of thermal imagery, before you listen to a salesman telling you that this will do the job for you. It leaves much to be desired in the real world and will not replace an NFPA camera.

Hey bud, just curious...what is your take on fire fighters purchasing one of these for themselves? Not as a replacement for a full size tic...just curious if you have experience with one of these and if you would think it would be worth the purchase Best of luck Mike

@@mike617 wry good question brother. My biggest questions would be to ask if your department has a TIC already and how do you envision deployment of a personal TIC. The drawbacks to the seek are that it fist off does not have firefighter friendly operating buttons. It’s pretty easy for the buttons to be pressed and change the color pallets of your view. Getting back to a usable view with gloves on is virtually impossible. The second issue is the ergonomics of the screen vs the lens. The lens is on top and the majority of your view is at the floor and just above for navigation and victim searches. It’s very difficult to see the screen when oriented down. My next issue is the field of view. The lens has a very tight field of view which makes shape and object recognition difficult as a thermal imager works by comparative temperature contrast of heat emitters. There is far less to contrast so image clarity becomes very difficult. In regard to image and shape recognition, the viewing screen is extremely small. Most real life usage of a thermal imager becomes “snap shot” glimpses as you are wiping steam and smoke from your face piece and the screen of your camera to capture glimpses of shapes and objects. The small image is extremely difficult to see in this environment. So this goes back to the value of you spending your own money on one of these. If you have no other cameras at your disposal … it’s better than nothing. If you are wanting it to assist in finding exits or trying to remain oriented in the event of an emergency, it may hold some limited use for this. If wanting it as a primary search or navigation tool ? I’d save my money. But this is my own opinion and I’m sure there are many others who would disagree. I hope this helps, stay safe.

@@Rescue-mt7fl thanks brother for the response, I’m going to do some research based on everything you hit on and anything else I can come up with and try to find something that will work best for me. I’m looking more for something personal for an emergency. Thanks again Mike

The regular blue seek reveal is better. This only has a few thermal displays the blue device has about 7.
