FLIR C2 / C3 vs Seek Thermal RevealPRO Thermal Camera Comparison

C2 vs RevealPRO: goo.gl/tUzTQv
C3 vs RevealPRO: goo.gl/ysSsdv
The FLIR C2/C3 and Seek Thermal RevealPRO are compact, handheld thermal imagers with impressive features and specs. While the RevealPRO provides a 320 x 240 pixel IR resolution (pretty incredible considering the price) compared to only 80 x 60 on the C2/C3, the FLIR cameras do have some other advantages over the Seek camera. Possibly the biggest advantage is FLIR's MSX image blending technology which embosses visual details in thermal images, making labels and structural elements clearly visible. The FLIR cameras also include the free FLIR Tools software for image analysis and professional report creation.
There are other major differences as well. To learn more, watch the video and check out our detailed comparisons via the links above.

Looks like the reveal is for me. I hate image blending, I don't use blending, I hate touch screen, I love the high thermal resolusion, I love the wider temperature range...

Reason i went for Seek (although the base model with the widest field of view) instead of FLIR is the propritary file format that requires the official, apperently Windows-only Software. Where's Seek went for PNG - it might get me fewer information, but i don't have to set up an extra Windows machine just for the device (I have a Linux-only network here). Also, with a PNG, i can just pull it out over USB and just send it to someone or post it on my blog or whatever. Without the extra, time consuming steps of converting the propritary file to somewhat interchangeable.

Both the FLIR C2 and C3 actually output images as standard JPEG files with 14-bit measurement data included - these are regular JPEG files which can be shared and used straight out of the camera, but they also include thermal metadata which gives you temperature data on your scene. To read this metadata, you need the FLIR Tools software. For the software, unfortunately you're correct - FLIR Tools only works on Windows PCs. FLIR has posted this article about the issue: flir.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1669/~/flir-tools-for-mac

I am busy with a project for a company to make the colleagues more inviorment friendly. We want to do this by let them lend a thermal camera from us, to experiment at home with so they can see if they can reduse the energie bill. The seek is to what i'am hearing a superior camera but the flir has software easyer to use (like the photo share option) What is the best camera for people to use, with no technical background, for home inspections?

Both of these cameras are relatively simple to operate. The main difference is that the C Series is mostly touchscreen-based - the only button is the shutter release on top of the unit. FLIR's user interface on these cameras is very intuitive and we have found that even people with no thermal imaging experience can easily figure out how to use these cameras to capture IR images. RevealPRO does not have a touchscreen - instead, the user interface is controlled via 3 buttons below the screen. The interface is not as polished as on the FLIR, and it can take some getting used to when navigating with only 3 buttons. That said, we found that novices could still figure out these cameras relatively easily. You are correct in saying that the RevealPRO is superior in its IR resolution. FLIR C Series has lower resolution but includes MSX image blending which makes a big difference in image quality. FLIR also includes reporting software for free which makes analyzing images very easy.

i dont agree with this comparison, they are in different categories. I think it would be more fitting to compare the C2/C3 with the Seek Shot/Seek Shot Pro as they are more similar in what they offer the consumer.

How long does battery last? Will it work in dark? With wi-if do I have to connect to smart phone in order to capture images and email them?

The battery life for the C2 and C3 is 2 hours - the battery life on the RevealPRO is 4 hours. All these cameras will work in the dark perfectly since visible light has no effect on the thermal radiation which the thermal sensor picks up. That said, any visible light images you take with the built-in digital cameras on these units will be affected by ambient light. The same is true with FLIR's MSX technology - this works best with adequate visible light. As for WiFi, this feature is only available on the FLIR C3. The WiFi feature allows you to transfer images wirelessly from the C3to a smartphone or PC, but you can also transfer images via a USB cable. You can still capture and transfer images from the camera while not connected to WiFi.

Whats is the best user friendly camera to detect moisture in roofs?

  • @TEquipment

There are plenty of great options out there, but for professional users, we most often recommend FLIR cameras due to the powerful included reporting software called FLIR Tools - this software lets you easily edit images, create professional reports, and send them out. Some more affordable options are the C2/C3, FLIR ONE Pro, FLIR ONE Pro LT, and FLIR E4. Of these, the C2/C3 and E4 will be the most user-friendly as they are totally standalone cameras with no phone/apps to deal with.

I need to buy one to detect dark and moisture area with lowest price. What thermal product do you recommend?

If the price is your main consideration, a phone-based IR camera will be the best value. FLIR just released the cheaper ONE Pro LT model for Android and Apple smartphones. This is definitely the cheapest option out there and will work for your application: www.tequipment.net/FLIR/ONE-PRO-LT-iOS/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ These are some other affordable models that would be good for your application - FLIR ONE Pro: www.tequipment.net/FLIR/OnePro-iOS/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ FLIR C2: www.tequipment.net/FLIR/C2/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/

I'm planning to buy seek thermal revealpro. How do you compare revealpro vs compactpro? No usb c on compactpro is a disappointment.

CompactPro: www.tequipment.net/Seek-Thermal/CompactPRO-iOS/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ RevealPro: www.tequipment.net/Seek-Thermal/RevealPRO/Building-and-Industrial-Thermal-Imagers/ Both are actually pretty similar in terms of raw specifications - each has a 320x240 IR sensor with 70mK sensitivity as well as an identical temperature range. The main difference is really the form factor since RevealPro is a standalone unit with a 2.4-inch screen and 4-hour battery life while CompactPro is a phone attachment. If you are doing professional inspections, RevealPro might be more comfortable than using a phone - but keep in mind Seek has no reporting/analysis software. If you need software, we still recommend any of the FLIR models in our comment above since they are all cheaper than RevealPro and include great software. To your other question, Seek does recommend some USB-C adapters for CompactPro: support.thermal.com/hc/en-us/articles/206237876-USB-Adapters-for-Seek-Compact

Can we check moisture level under concrete.?

  • @TEquipment

    @TEquipment

    4 жыл бұрын

Concrete is much denser than drywall - for this reason, using thermal imaging in this application might not give the results you want. However, you might be able to tell if a certain section of concrete is cooler than others which could indicate moisture beneath. We have several ITC Certified thermal imaging experts on staff - feel free to call us at (877) 571-7901 with any further questions.
