Hello, I'm looking for a camera that has a long shutter speed to look at mountainsides for temperature differences. Do you know which one would be best? I suppose it does not need to be a really good one, because it does not have a short shutter speed like the pros use. But likely it needs an adjustable shutter speed and every pixel needs uniform sensitivity. It also probably needs a long focal length or range. Would you be able to point me in the right direction, I'm looking for something less than $300?

In reality, shutter speed is not a main consideration for most thermal imaging applications. Specifically for your application, since you're shooting a landscape, you likely don't need super fast exposure times. The camera's field of view and resolution/sensitivity are much more important considerations. You also need a camera with long range depending on the distance you are from the mountainside. Depends on your application - if you need a fast frame rate like 15Hz for capturing motion then yes, the Reveal XR FF is probably the best option of the Reveal Series. The RevealPRO does have a longer range of 1,800ft as well as higher IR resolution if you need it - it also has the same frame rate of 15Hz. A cheaper 15Hz option would be the Reveal FF - the specs on this are similar to the XR FF but with a shorter range of 500ft. Check the description above for links to all the products mentioned here. Keep in mind, anything over 9Hz is also Export Controlled with restricted shipping outside the USA.

Hi, thanks for the answers, it seems the 30XR FF is a 30Hz I can not find many info on this unit, will it be that the faster rate shorten the distance?

To your question about distance, a faster frame rate will not shorten the camera's effective distance. Concerning the 30 XR FF, there is no info about the 30 XR FF on Seek's website and we don't carry this unit on TEquipment.NET. Our in-house thermography expert has also never heard of it - it's possible this was an older unit that is now discontinued, or it could be bad information on the internet. What is the operating temperature of the RevealPro? Can it be used in a 130 F attic space?

@@xxx-funandtheories8337 The FF stands for Fast Frame and means the imager has a better frame rate. The XR FF has a frame rate of 15Hz, which means it's quicker and good for moving objects, while the XR frame rate is 9Hz, which is better for stationary objects.

Hmm quite a con that you dont emphasie the biggest con in the reveal series, the fixed focus. after all its the same sensor and to my understanding also objective. but the focus when you got on the compact series have for some weird design reason been humped so fare into the enclosure that you cant turn it. Got the seek pro FF (el cheapo version 290USD) + a 8USD macro and have put up some videos what im getting out of it. for the price its very imressive and kudos to Seek they have really shaked up the thermal market Got the CompactPro version and have uploaded a bunch of videos to give an idea of the performance and I'm very impressed when you have the price in mind for an 320x240sensor..

Jakob Hi Jakob, would you please advise me as you seem to have a handle on this. I’m a volunteer animal Rescuer in Dublin and I’m thinking of investing in one. Auto Focus is my concern. People may loose a cat or someone may be out trying to rescue kittens and we need to make sure we leave none behind, so I would be doing a lot of walking around scanning as it were. Whilst range is important, my concern is, the original compact is Auto Focus and the X-R and the Pro are manual. (I’m not at all a camera person btw so my only perspective on the situation below, is if I were using unfocused binoculars whilst trying to find a cat Hiding in bramble or hushes and would I see them if if it’s all unfocused) What would you Recommend? I’m walking around a field / park the site of a football pitch with lots of hedges / bramble trying to find a cat perhaps staying still in them. If the XR and Pro need to be manually focused all the time as I scan the size of a pitch I may be walking around, is that Impracticable usage of with manual focus. Am I better to go with the shorter range version 1 with Auto Focus? Those Compact first versions seem very hard to find used r new and I’ll be using with IOS IPhone / IPad ... thanks so much. At 3 min you say they are good up to 900 yards. The info panel says foot . I'm hunting for a long range I can also use indoors

@@ryderthatsme If you're comparing the Seek FF XR to the Seek RevealPRO, they both have a temp. range of -40 F to 626 F and 15Hz frame rate, but the Seek RevealPRO has a better range as previously mentioned, as well as a superior thermal sensor of 320 x 240 (76,800 pixels) and a 32-degree field of view, giving you better view and clarity. The biggest downside is the PRO's battery operating time of 4 hours, compared to the FF XR's 10 hours.

how will the FBI know that you take it with you in the airport? and why you did not test it in long ranges

Why is this just one long video of this guy's head? If he thinks his face is his money maker, his mother's been lying to him. Show screenshots, show products, show technical specs.

How is this not a clown show? They're all the same device with minor differences turned into premium price reflections. Pathetic business model. Fast frame = a measly 15Hz, as opposed to an abysmal 9Hz? Carbon fiber body? Having flashbacks to Apple's Titanium laptop - can't take it out of the country due to national security. The average American business is bloody stupid.
