Seeing Sound With Sand | Soundwaves: The Symphony Of Physics | BBC Earth Science
Ғылым және технология
Is there a way we can visualise the sound frequencies an object has? Well thanks to the Chladni plate experiment, Helen Czerski reveals the extraordinary patterns that emerge when vibrating an object.

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Nikola Tesla.
This must have been so trippy, when people first saw this!
What A Perfection !!!!!!!
Nothing rests, everything moves, everything vibrates.
This is important for winning the knowledge fight
Awesome
2:47 so just below A440. Also, fun exercise to watch the later sounds using a spectrogram app - see pitch change, harmonics, etc. Crazy idea: acrylic paint pours on vibrating surface to capture rough pattern.
WOW!
Moments that if not recorded you wouldn't believe it
This method is one of the theories on how the blocks of the pyramid were put into place

The past, present and future.
Space sound
this is actually what an atom look like
Has anyone tried this with a round plate?
I feel like the stereotyped savage being shown a cigarette lighter -- it's at once wondrous and a little frightening.

so my butt vibrates in a number of different ways all at the same time to produce a fart noise?

Yep. And it spells your name.
Aka harmonics

oh right. I'm surprised the plate can bend to show several patterns all at the same time.
Why is there no Energy in matter other than that received from its environment?

@@raverdeath100 why do radioactive materials not lose weight over time? If m-ass is being converted into Energy.

Why do we need to "see" the sounds? We can "hear" them already! I think sounds are made to be heard, not seen!

"I think it's always fascinating to explore different ways of experiencing things, even if we can already hear them. Not everyone can hear sound the same way, and it's amazing how science can offer new perspectives. For instance, some places use vibrating floors so that deaf individuals can feel the music instead, creating an inclusive experience for everyone. Moreover, tools like tuners on guitars can visually show us how in tune the music is, which is incredibly helpful for those who may not have a trained ear for tuning instruments. I recently witnessed a young student's passion for singing, but they were struggling to match pitch and ended up feeling discouraged. By visually showing them the shapes sound waves create, I hope to help them understand how to improve their singing and match the right tones effectively. It's all about embracing different ways of learning and expressing ourselves!"

Are you being facetious and talking about sound waves like children? What a cute way to think about the experiment.
