To anyone who wants to know. Barbara Reddick (the "lucky winner") passed away on May 15, 2023. She became 62 years old. I don't know how she died or how many really loved her in the end. But I hope she became happy with all her money. The price she was willing to pay for it, was high.

She made a deal with the boy where he got ¼ of the price, and she got the other ¾ The old woman cut all ties with the boy after this. If I remember correctly, the boy said he was happy with the money that he got. But that he was sad of losing a person he for many years considered a friend.

We'll never know if she appreciated it or not. If the kid lied and told them she said they'd split it, he's the one being greedy. For all we know, she would have spoiled him endlessly if he didn't insist on getting half. It's a literal "he said, she said" scenario, we don't know the truth. Either way, they settled the case a long time ago. She got 2/3, he got 1/3.

For those interested, she really did take her nephew to court. They settled on splitting the money 25/75 in the woman's favor. According to the news article I read she and her nephew are no longer speaking and she regrets letting him have any of the money at all. Poor kid, least he found out her true nature sooner then later.

I always give lottery tickets to people at christmas and birthdays, but i always say when i give them ”i get 10% for anything you win over 1000$, anything less than that you keep all for yourself”. I think anyone that gives away lottery tickets should get something in like a finders fee, but i dont think it should be 50%.

I remember seeing this clip a while back. The nephew ended up giving half of his winning to avoid any further court proceedings. One thing to consider is the attorneys incentive. Whoever picked her up as a client is incentivized to drag this to court as long as possible, especially knowing the aunt is siting on a million dollar potential. Where then would she be? Just goes to show that age is just number. Settling this amicably would have been the best approach.

Imagine getting 600 thousand dollars and being this upset over it, while also decided to give away a big chunk to a lawyer that's going to drag it on for as long as possible with no guarantee of winning anything, but certain guarantee that both she and her nephew will lose tens of thousands of dollar on lawyer fees. What could have been 1.2 million among the both of them will now be at least 100,000 less for both of them. The lawyers are the only winners here.

I hope the kid wins and she has to pay all his legal fees and it leaves her in debt. How evil. His name is on the ticket. Sounds like he gets half to me.

She wrote his name and his number on the card herself, then she got upset with him when he got part of the reward that she told him he could have when she wrote his name and number on the card. The only reason she got more money was because they settled outside of court, had they gone to court she would've lost.

Imagine winning 600k and then destroying your relationship with your nephew because of it.

*What an L aunt. The writing is literally on the wall because it's on the actual paper; I'm not sure what she's trying to argue and her lawyer is probably wondering the same thing.*

Money can destroy a family sometimes.

The two went to court and the aunt ended up getting another 211,000 out of his cut adding onto her original half. Both the aunt and nephew stated they were satisfied. The nephew said in an interview he was very heart broken that his aunt went out of the way to sue him and that he would have given her the money either way . All in all very very sad of his aunt to act the way she did, this is a case where money doesn’t change someone it shows how they really are.
