Welcome aboard a US Navy Catapult shot from the cockpit of the most advanced Electronic Attack (EA) platform in the United States military arsenal, the EA-18G Growler. The Growler is an Electronic Attack variant of the F/A-18. This is a MAX power (full afterburner) catapult shot, where we achieve 170 mph and nearly 4 Gs in 2 seconds.
As you can see, the bow of the boat is stacked with jets. Catapult 2, the port bow catapult was down for maintenance, so we were using that real estate as a parking garage.
This jam was filmed aboard the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) on a warm October day from the Northern Arabian Gulf. Fly Navy!
If you enjoyed this voiceover, be sure to check out my "voiceover" playlist. I cover everything from carrier recoveries (landings) to catapult shots to tanking evolutions.

Absolutely. The military needs to take advantage of the popularity of KZread with an age group of people best suited to serve. Let people film vids and content like this. Easy, simple, entertaining, no classified info, good to go.

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but that is exactly why they let him do this. There's a whole army (pun intended) of military Instagram influencers for this very reason. They're not dumb, they know exactly what they're doing.
I am amazed how people operate in close proximity of the jet. A big salute for the ground crew!

You should see high tempo helicopter ops in the Army. Nothing like all those rotor blades spinning over head to make you a foot shorter if you're not careful to keep your head on a swivel and do everything safely. Fly Army.

Giving us an inside view of what naval aviators do every day around the world is truly a privilege. Thank you Pail for making these videos and so happy to see your channel growing at such a great pace! Bravo Zulu!
Any time I see someone operating a fighter, I think "god, what a job. I'd love to be able to do that". So cool and even better that you're allowed to release this content!
This is my favorite aviation channel. The information given is great, and presented in such a fun, irreverent and non-condescending way to us civilians. Thanks so much, Pail.

Pail, this is the best one yet, behind the deflector, the greenshirt, with the Hey,how you doing around his waist, Hilarious!!
My grandfather, the man who raised me, was a Navy man of 23 years. He was AO (Aviation ordinance) and had some wicked stories to tell, especially since he served in the Vietnam era. Growing up in Norfolk, VA, we were always around the military in some way. It never ceases to amaze me to this day, just how well they communicate and how hard these men and women work, day in, day out. Thank you for your service, and thank you for sharing content with us civvies that let us see the other side!

Amazing Sir! Thank you for taking us along!! Go NAVY!!
Excellent! the whole gig is impressive but the rather smallish holdback bar is an amazing piece of engineering. Signature Move and Sit up like a big boy - great sayings 👍
Always fascinating Pail. Never gets old. Thanks.
Love the videos!!! Can't get enough of the TR and the flight deck ops. I've done 2 shots and 2 traps, 1 as enlisted, 1 as a civilian. AWESOME feeling!!!
Fantastic jam! Really love and appreciate the details of all the deck crew actions. Thanks again, and keep 'em coming!
My avionics shop was directly under Cat 1...gotta love those CRT TV's going wacky when the jets went full power, especially the Prowlers...
I will say Pail's comments are absolutely the best out there for explaining carrier operations. Clear and concise for us out here. I'm sure these were approved by the Navy and hopefully not giving any information to the bad guys. Keep em' coming!
Cool, calm, collected, …just what you want in the most dangerous workplace !
Best Jam yet! Learning and entertainment can’t ask for more.
Awesome Jam Pail!! Still amazes me how much happens simultaneously on a carrier!
Thank you for another great video! Those flight deck operations when looked at from the outside appears to be chaos but is quite well controlled. Lots going on! Thank you for what you do! Fly Navy!
JBD was the first acronym that I learned! 😅 And I got it without translation. I guess the missiles, guns etc. are the hardest for me. I've missed those in every jam so far. (without P-caps) It helps a lot when you've added in "extras" short explanation, like you've done. Thank you very much! 💞 💞 💞
I'm so glad you've doubled and tripled down on the inside lingo. Very cool to watch but also very entertaining to hear you talk about it.
Thanks for showcasing the day to day!
It never gets old watching. The crew on the flight deck are kids. Amazing. BZ sir.
Amazing how much safety calls are made when going for the slot. The shooter seems to be the most vulnerable of the crew, especially if the engine explodes in launch. My blessings to all of you that keep us safe at home. Thank you Instructor Pail!
@user-yi2bn5ky5q
Ай бұрын
In all actuality, the Shooter is NOT the most vulnerable. It’s the launching crew (ABE’s) that’s the most vulnerable. They’re the ones that are getting underneath the Aircraft to hook up the equipment (Holdback), and ensure that the launching bar is properly seated in the Catapult Shuttle (Topside P.O.). There’s nothing scarier than being underneath a Jet that goes into full power while ensuring a proper “hook-up”. That’s when you’re at your most vulnerable.
Love the way you explain the operations on the flight deck. I am a former Marine, A6A squadron in Viet Nam stationed at DaNang. You have the best aviation channel going so keep up the good, informative videos.

Sleeves on the flight suit rolled up for a flight on a nice clear day.... going with the sins out guns out. Plus a couple of signature moves to impress the flight deck crew with your guns. 😂 The flight deck in action is great to watch. It was great to actually see it in person. The night time flight deck is a whole new level of intensity. Love the videos
