Developing a new city in such bald mountains and prevent the farm land is wise projects to improve the environment. There are 4.5m STEM students graduated every year in China which is more than G7 combined. They are running a space station. I don't think they are stupid.

Yeah.. they’re not stupid. But intelligence doesn’t mean they are doing things in the right way. RAzing even aparent “dry” ecosystems doesn’t mean that this won’t affect other ecosystems downriver. The Chinese build huge cities only to leave them abandoned I don’t think they have the best of reputation either especially when they barely even care about labour conditions

I found this video to extremely inadequate and disturbing in describing these projects and the environmental hazards they will create. The wind turbine foundation sounds interesting, but information on how it works would have been relevant and helpful. SlipForm Test Tower looked like an interesting structure but again there was no explanation what a test tower is used for. The concrete is added as a form moves vertically up adding a layer as it goes. Here is one explanation from Wikipedia on what structure is used for. "An elevator test tower is a structure usually 100 to over 200 metres (300 feet to over 600 feet) tall that is designed to evaluate the stress and fatigue limits of specific elevator cars in a controlled environment". The Lanzhou New Area Project was the third construction project mentioned on this video and I found this project to be especially disturbing. A reported 700 mountains are to removed for a new city. A company spokesperson was quoted as saying that there would minimal damage to the environment by this project. This is like a 1984 meme when 700 mountains are to removed and yet the company claims that there won't be any significant environmental damage. That is so disturbing I can't find the words to how sick and disturbed that is.

Mountains have proven to be slightly helpful when it comes to preventing earthquakes. Mountains have the ability to direct the earthquakes to another region where they tend to become more powerful than their original magnitude. When the tectonic plates that form the biggest mountains collide, earthquakes happen.

Farmland doesn't replace 1000s of years of flora, forna,wildlife and water sources. 700 mountains mowed down has huge environmental impacts. There's nothing to justify it... China did the same thing with its northern border and Siberian forests. They flattened ancient forests and planted entirely different and inferior trees. They could have easily terraced those mountains for a fraction of the cost to create arable farming land and incorporated buildings either inside the mountains or on top. There is no medicine for stupidity, China dies the same thing in Africa they care for nothing.

Everything affects the weather. In this case it's what they do with the terrain afterwards that matters. And China has a rich experience re-greening desolate areas.

@@cosmokramer3081 how do you work that out? So you think mountain ranges doesn’t have an effect on the weather? I like the Chinese people, their history and their culture. I despise the CCP as it’s them that doesn’t give two fuks about their environment

@@taffythegreat1986 Mountains can be very different just like people. Some montains are relatively small and you make the environment a good deal by removing them and flattening the surface (provided a big part of it won't be covered by buildings and asphalt). Urban dwellers sometimes have a simplistic and one-sided worldview of weather and nature. Just because something exists in nature untouched by humans it doesn't mean it exists in any of its best ways. Google how China re-greens its desert(s) it already made huge strides (and big mistakes that have been confirmed and taken care of in the future).

I guess that all of the workers who have been working these projects are from outside of the country.

It’s too bad we couldn’t see the actual construction of the cities they’re building from China’s 700 mountains. That’s got to be a massive project. If possible, you should try to do a video on “the line” in Saudi Arabia. It’s an enclosed futuristic modular type of city, or cities for, what I understand, the brightest more upper echelon people. No cars as everything you’ll ever need will be within a 5 minute walk, including medical care, groceries stores, theaters, stores, shops, entertainment, etc. Sounds unbelievable, and looks even more unbelievable as nothing like it has ever been thought of, let alone built. They have already started construction.
