The empress buffer is an in AND output buffer. Placing everything in the loop puts a buffer at the beginning and the end of the chain. People often forget the buffer at the end, which drives the cable back to the amp and preserves your signal strength a lot. “It sounds better” is the short, but also very valid answer 😉

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:13 🎸 The pedalboard showcased is designed for bass with versatility and flexibility in a compact size. 01:22 🛠️ The most crucial part of the bass pedalboard is the last item in the chain: a tube DI (Direct Input) with simple EQ and a high pass filter for a rounded sound. 07:30 🎛️ The Cali 76 Compact Bass is an always-on 1176-style compressor, providing a consistent and present sound, enhancing mid-range frequencies. 09:55 🎶 The Angular Optimizer is an octave pedal that produces a sub-harmonic sound, adding depth and texture to the bass without overwhelming it. 12:30 🔊 The Way Huge Pork & Pickle is a versatile overdrive and fuzz pedal with a clean blend option, offering a dynamic and parallel fuzz effect. 14:26 🎚️ The Darkglass Microtubes X7 is a multi-band distortion pedal that excels in shaping mid-range frequencies, adding grit and intensity to the bass sound. 17:04 🎛️ The Origin Effects Bass RIG is a preamp that adds grit and character to the bass sound, enhancing mid-range frequencies and providing a bit of distortion when needed. 19:17 🎶 The EHX Micro Synth is used for fuzz and octave effects, providing a range of parallel voices including sub-octave, dry, octave up, and fuzz for added depth and impact. 21:25 🎛️ Pedalboard ties pedals and rig, enhancing bass sound and versatility. 22:09 🎶 HX knob emulates SVT classic, offering a close, clean di sound for bass. 23:33 🎸 Dingwall bass with stainless steel strings showcased for its unique sound. 24:27 🎵 Versatile tones from the pedalboard, not limited to specific genres. 25:37 💼 Versatility of pedalboard suits different bands and atmospheres, providing consistent options for different setups. 27:42 🎛️ Importance of solid sound from a pedalboard, especially for live performances and diverse band setups. 29:34 🔊 Explanation of preset setup and key pedals on the board for achieving desired bass sound. 31:38 🎧 Emphasis on bass players fitting into the mix, trusting their intuition, and adapting to different musical environments. 33:04 🔌 Consistency in gear and cables for maintaining reliable sound and adaptability across various musical styles. I've had so many comments on this video... But I love how the camera starts to shake when you turn on the darkglass.. Maybe talk about how to get good sounds out directly from D.I. in the mix.. I feel a lot of people strugle with this.. but maybe it's just me :)

So with the bassrig are you getting the cab sims or are they only through the DI? Really useful video tho, I’m making a similar rig.

Old comment but I’m going try to help if you still interested. The stomp has one send port, but is TRS and the two returns port that are mono. You can use a TRS to 2 mono cable to create 2 FX loops.

This dude has no idea what he is talking about. There is no need for that buffer 1st in the chain since his next pedal the Cali76 Compact Bass has a studio grade buffer in it. Also your "compact", not, pedal board is no big enough to have to run back through a buffer before leaving
