Dont do that. Its a bad habit, someday in hurrry u could leave brake at reverse. Unless you are really parking dont select park gear, . This is why sequence is always P R N D Always put on N when standing in traffic. Its a fail item in UK test, and India follows all rules of road as UK's The Highway Code

Also do not put your car into neutral your gearbox life will be reduced and it will fry sooner than you know it. Keep it in drive and use auto brake hold function if you have otherwise if issue remains better get some work done on your brakes(rotor,brake pads).

Dont use park unless actually parking. Beech me rev hota hai, galti se brake choota ro peeche jaoge aur peeche wala aage ayega, time na milega bachne ka. Traffic mein hamesha neutral. Actual parking karte samay hi park mein dalna hai. Manual bhi padh liya karo apne car ka labhi kabhi. Wo tumhare liye hai.

But brake pads should not wear in this case. Once they hold the wheel steady, no friction will be there to wear them out

If there is no friction why is the car no moving Friction rubbs against the brake caliper which causes friction He said that the car is trying to move farward and the brake is trying to stop it like in a tug war you are still pulling the other team even if the rope isn't moving.

This is really dangerous, I have experienced this a bus was crossing us and we were waiting just some distance aside and break went a bit loose . Car moved forward in Verry slow unnoticeable speed and almost touched the side of slow passing bus . Thanks God my dad was sitting aside to me 😢

I drive an automatic and to counter this effect i always shift to “N” whenever i’m heavy traffic or at a signal. Also, since i was driving manual previously, this small shift every time i take a pause makes me feel more in control 😊
Engine Start stop mechanism works well in this case, also DSG/DCT gear boxes are intelligent enough to handle this case to avoid wear n tear

Modern day cars engage themselves in neutral if you keep the brake pedal pressed for a few seconds. You can make this out by the revs too. When you start releasing the brake, the gearbox engages in 1st again.

This is half true. Automatics use a torque converter, which is like a differential, to prevent the engine from stalling when it's in gear and stopped. Modern cars have a locking plate in the torque converter that can guarantee a 1:1 speed ratio once the car reaches a (typically very low) speed, think like 5-20 depending on age and model. While stopped, because the engine is still kind of in gear and turning, it naturally follows that upon releasing the brakes, the car creeps forward. Because of this always-in-gear behavior, some cars produce more vibration when stopped in gear than when in park or neutral. Cars with auto start/stop features might not automatically creep.
It is just applicable for torque converter gearbox usually used in BMW not happen inVW DSG technology

My BMW 530i xDrive has a Hold button which takes care of all that!
Engaging brake also engages clutch, so dont think the engine force is damaging the brakes here. @motoroctane you need to check the concept again here.

This is more important for AMT, as clutch slip is there in AMT. AT and DSG less affected AT and DSG sometime completely disengage, AMT is becoming good by incorporating new algos like completely disengaging .

In my recently purchased Grand Vitara smart hybrid automatic, the car engine stops automatically if I keep brakes pressed for a few seconds at one place, and when I release brake, the engine starts. This function helps in saving fuel. No need of Neutral mode.

Rpm stays stable when braking and increases when we lift our foot. Hence, brake is not forcing the car to stop, engine comes at normal rpm when brake is pressed at certain pressure

My brother, if the car is completely stationary while holding the brakes, they will not wear out. It is only when a car is even moving slightly and we brake to stop it, the brakes will wear out at that point. 😊

Sorry to correct u here. When you push break, then clutch automatically gets disengaged.
Not on electric! It completely stops the energy flow on auto hold.

@@riyasinghcreations5029 it’s been a complete pleasure to own. There have been barely any issues apart from minor tech related that were solved. There are a lot of features in my Skoda Kodimaram that make more sense in my EV since there is no engine. Doing 250 km a day highway/city use is easy on my max. Fast home charger is worth it. Been to 4 different cities around Mumbai already.

Also don't use park mode as Handbrake.. use Handbrake for parking. Park mode has weak parts, not to be used as an alternative to handbrake
Bhai breaks jate h Friction se ghisne pr. Khadi gaadi me force to lag rhi h aage jaane ki but the breaks are not rubbing off. The wheels are locked in place. Force gearbox and clutch endure krta h. Plus aap to journalist ho yeh to jaante honge that clutches automatic me bhi hote h.

Bhai it won't put pressure on gear when you press break or put on auto hold at the same time the clutch is pressed inside the system you won't be aware.

I learnt from another youtuber from abroad that sacrificing brakepad is much convenient and pocket friendly compare gearbox wear n tear by frequent change of drive mode in automatic cars and felt it has sense when we are driving in heavy traffwhen to cross one light you need 2-3 stops and multiple such crossings. Rachit what u say? Can you get a detailed vdo where we can understand wear n tear of gear n transmission box per stop if we change from D to N or P.
Not always TC is engaged when in D and stopped completely, if car is still (in D) in traffic and TC is engaged (you can feel through brake and engine vibration) I put it in N otherwise if TC is not engaged I leave it as it is < 10 sec. This is for rapid Aisin TC.
Same goes to IMT, not even break it will effect transmission
my automatic Honda amazes is driven in same situation...the brake pads are not changed for three services..30k kms

Try and see - you will notice - the engine has lesser noise when you are in neutral than drive.
Automatic car ka Brake jaldi jata hai...but not for putting brake on red light. It is because automatic car me aap gear Kam karke engine braking nahi karte...to obviously aapko brake jyada use karni padti hai

But motorocatane in the cars like Suzuki Brezza we have the smart hybrid feature which turns off the engine on braking when ever we stop so in this case we don’t brake hard to stop car. So is this helpful or it’s the same thing??😅😅
These cars have clutch built within, Once you apply brakes, clutch is engaged automatically

Putting the car on 'Park' at a red light is blunder....Basically park mode locks the gearbox and if a vehicle slams you from behind, not only will it damage your vehicle from the exterior but also break your gear case.... Go for the 'Neutral' instead..
What about smart hybrid it automatically off the car when at traffic signal and automatically starts when we gave acceleration

I don't think this is right. Brakes only wear out if there is a relative motion between the brake pad and rotor (while deaccelarating). When in standstill, even though the engine is pushing the car forward and force is applied on the brake, since there is no relative motion between the pad and rotor, the brakepads won't wear Having said that, there will still be more pad wear in automatic due to absence of engine braking by shifting to lower gears. This can also be controlled in automatics by using the paddle shiters

I don't think that's gonna make any difference, 'cause there's no relative motion between the brake and the disc, so I don't understand how that will impact the life of the brake pads!

PROBLEM WITH SOLUTION: As we press the brake pedal the oil in torque converter of auto transmission going by valve body to decrese to some amount to reduce power from engine and this technique is almost in every modern vehicle .and that why theres no soo wear and tear on brake pades in stop and go traffic . If we start looking that these minor problems then in manual transmission, clutch plate have a high wear and tear in stop and go traffic. After soo much running of engine this power will approximately finished because after running of engine theres almost 700 to 800 rpm and even at this rpm the engine will move the vehicle on D after releasing brake pedal.
