And, Israel has used any Palestinian resistance as an excuse to steal more and more land and homes to build "settlements" and call the land their own. I worked at a campus for 17 yrs. It's the students campus that are paying tuition. As a facilities and services employee, my partner and I would catch students vandalizing and tearing things up. As we told them, you're tuition will probably go up next year because of your actions. But this is YOUR campus and we are your employees. Just be safe. We never called the cops. It was their campus which their tuition helped pay my salary. This is the students campus. You keyboard warriors think you're contributing to ivy league schools? Lol.. the internet is truly a joke. I stand with the students. They are the future and God forbid they think like their war loving ancestors. Give your spouse and kids a hug and let it go ffs

My god, NYPD needs to introduce some physical fitness requirements for their officers. I can't believe how many significantly overweight officers I'm seeing. No way can they do their job to the best of their ability when carrying that kind of extra poundage. The thing that I don’t understand is that Columbia can’t meet the needs of what they’re protesting…. they would be better off going to Gaza and helping. That is not how student loan forgiveness works. "We" don't pay anything. It simply means if the student has paid more than the initial loan , They've already paid it... no more interest is what it amounts to. You pay nothing, not where you got that idea.

The worst part of the university system is that it teaches hatred towards the concept of God. I came out of university with a contempt for the idea of God, but then I had my own “God” experience, and I finally understood the ideas I had hated and mocked before.

Police presence is at a ridiculously heightened level. Intimidating the press by directing them in a manner that appears to be restricting their access. Riot gear is intimidating and unnecessary. Columbia University mishandled this from the beginning (ignoring their own university regulations) and it should never have come to this.

I don't dismiss students support for the Palestinians but with that Jewish students on campus were made to be fearful and that is very wrong. What is going on is Gaza cannot be put into a vacuum. Some of the protestors seem to not even be students at Columbia and the protestors number a few hundred students out of a 36,644 member student body. They are disrupting the business of the university and the ability of other to go about their own business. I'm glad to see that something is being done now.
