Thanks for putting this out there. I just pick up 2 of the primes for my 40g. Interested in some of the setting that you provided, thanks!
you do a great job for this hobby, Ryan, thank you. you helped me setting up my nano reef tank.
I would love it if, when discussing products in the videos, you would include links to the products on your website. This would save viewers the time it takes to do a manual search. Little list of links in the comments section...please! THANK YOU for producing such great, upbeat, informative videos.

Hi, I was wondering if two AI Prime 16hd lights would work for a 90 gallon tank with the dimensions of 36" length, 24" width and 24" height. If not what would you recommend. Thanks
I'm looking at purchasing a Red Sea Reefer 250, what would you recommend for lighting?
Could you guys do a video on the new aqua illumination series of lights?

Does one Ai is enough for a 35 gallons 20x20 (cubic aquarium) or does it takes two of them ?
Love your representations over so many areas of the beautiful knowledge but Ryan.. low profile would set only a few inches above the surface, not 10 or more. Keep up the great work guys, it all comes back, ways of thanks !! And thanks guys !!
I got the fluval flex 32 gallon saltwater setup, how do I set the lights with the fluval app?
How often would you have to buy an led light? Do they lose intensity or as long as they are ON they are good for the coral?
Can I get away with just one ai prime with 35 inch long for m the budget ?
Hello. I’m planing on getting 25 NUVO Fusion Lagoon PRO AIO Aquarium. The dimensions for the tank are L=23.62” W=16.48” H=11.8”. I was wondering if anyone knows good recommended lights for this tank. It would also help if it was under $250
what size light and how many are recommended for a 150 gallon tank. 4ft wide 38 inches tall
Is there new update on lighting as far as spectrum
What is the recommended spacing between those 2 ai primes youd say for the 40B?

What do you think about all-in-one kits like the 32 gallon Coralife Biocube LED tank? I don't have room for a big tank, and I don't really want an open top, either.

If looking for a nano system to care for these work great! With smaller water volume you will need to watch levels closer, but you can definitely do this. (:
Are these settings on the video for the AI Prime for a softies tank or more mixed reef?
@BRStv
4 жыл бұрын
These settings are more designed for a mixed reef tank, as we will be caring for softies, and LPS. You may want to change some levels, and intensity if going SPS dominant. A PAR meter would be helpful for this.
would you recommend the same settings for a 20g waterbox cube?
@BRStv
4 жыл бұрын
Yes! You may want to adjust intensities depending on your personal tank needs.
hi there, what do you recommend sir for a marine planted tank? i would want to start with a 120 - 150 gallon tank
@BRStv
4 жыл бұрын
We haven't specifically targeted saltwater planted tanks, but there are some reefers out there who grow "display refugiums" that are similar in concept. I would recommend checking out Reef2Reef.com for some inspiration on this type of tank! :)
I have a strip light a AI strip light over my 20 gallon aio. I lost my program and was super sick so I just choose a preset to a region. Thats how their presets are. I think I choose Great barrier reef because it was in between Indonesia and Australia. Anyway it has an a 16 to18 hour cycle and same with noopsyche ab plus lps mode. It has about 12 hours with white for daylight. Is that a smarter choice? Since that more like their Habitat? I was going to change back to 12 hour with 2 hour ramp up and 2 hour down but corals recieve more then 8 hours of daylight! So why so most people choose 8 hours? Also If I choose 8 hour should the 8 hour be the same intensity of part of it higher and lower the way it is in nature?
So I have learned that lps and sps can be in the same tank but away from each other. My question is. Will lps do good with the high light that the sps corals need? I wanted to have both sps and lps and also anemones and I've also learned that anemones need high light like sps. Also the preset shown in this video of 50% for blue and white lights and 15% for green and red on a 10 hour schedule, should those settings give you a par reading of 75-150? or higher? I also want to get a 40 gallon breeder with the same two lights in this video.
@BRStv
4 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, LPS do best in 75-150 par while SPS do best in 250-350 par. That said, LPS can be acclimated to higher light intensities over time if you do it slowly.
What do you think about using the fluval aquasky for a reef tank?
@BRStv
2 жыл бұрын
We haven't tried that one out. Looks like the Fluval website suggests it for freshwater or fish only aquariums. That likely means that the spectrum isn't what we'd be looking for to support corals.
what light do i need if i do not want corals.
Ryan, please suggest me a good light for lps. Thanks

This will be very dependent on your tank's dimensions. We'd be happy to provide a recommendation if you give us those tank dimensions.
Would these light settings work on a 20 gal red sea MAX nano?
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
The AI Prime 16 or Red Sea ReefLED 50 would both be solid options for a Red Sea Max NANO tank 🙂
I need to have a glass lid on my tank as my fire fish and gobies tend to jump and I have a calico who loves to 'assist' them. will this change the par ? I plan on having a focal point of carpet anemone and some mushrooms and star polyps. 20" X 20" X 60" Tank
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
glass tops will reduce the par in the tank. This is mainly due to condensation and salt creep. The cleaner you keep your glass top, the less impact it will have. That said, I'd suggest taking a look at screen top kits to see if that's something that would better fit your needs.
Does my light have to be placed so high? I want to get a fluval flex 123 which has the light in the lid, i am concerned this will become limiting for the coral. But at the same time I like the idea of a lid to prevent the need for an ATO

This is an example of the tank kzread.info/dash/bejne/n398m7CJc83MoNY.htmlsi=7MBuvg97rrVhBl3d I'm guessing I would have to do a much more shallow coral grow as there should be some space between the light? Is it possible to do a high coral grow with low lighting? Many thanks for your help!!
So the lighting recommended in this video is for the lps corrals?
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
That's correct. If you're aiming for a more SPS dominant system, check out some of Randy's BRStv Investigates lighting videos for suggestions on both SPS and LPS dominant tanks.
Hey so I have a question will ti intense light also melt away Xenia there is a section in my tank that light is pretty strong and my Xenia tends to not do good in the middle of my tank.
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
Softies like Xenia usually do well in 75-150 par, but can adapt to a wide variety of conditions in most cases. Xenia also tend to like tanks that have a lot of particulate foods and nutrients to uptake, so that could be a factor in why you're struggling with them as well.
How many Ai Prime 16 hd's would you suggest for a 75G tank similar set up here? would 3 be sufficient?
@BRStv
4 жыл бұрын
3 would be enough light for a softie/LPS tank, however if you have a standard 75, you probably have a center brace. That is going to block a ton of light from that middle Prime. Because of that, you're going to be much better off with an even number of fixtures. An alternative would be to use two Primes in conjunction with a T5 Hybrid kit.

@BRStv

It will depend on the types of corals you're wanting to keep and the tank dimensions, but the AI Prime is a fantastic choice. If you're only going to be keeping softies and LPS, then the Kessil A80 is also a contender
Would the led on the aqua one aquavogue 245 be good
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
Can't say that we've tested that specific fixture. Your best bet would be to use a par meter to set it up so that you can ensure that you're providing the correct amount of light to your corals.
What do you guys recommend for a 55 gallon with fish in it
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
If it's a fish only system, then lighting isn't nearly as important. An inexpensive LED strip light or two will get the job done. Reef Brite makes some great LED strip lights. If you're growing corals, you'll first want to determine what types of corals you're going to be keeping as that will impact the type of lighting that will be recommended.

$200?!? Idk I’ve seen a few BRS videos now that have prices that are wrong. AI prime is $250, saw a BRS video saying the Nero 3 was $150…. Gotta get it together
I am a big fan of all of your videos, but is there a cheaper way?
@BRStv
3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. There is all sorts of budget equipment out there. Plus, while starting with a smaller tank might up the difficulty level, smaller means less equipment, less livestock, and less expensive. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gZOGp6OMkdXJpNY.html
@jumbowana

Yes, T5's. Cheaper to buy and the par will be spot on the moment they turn on. You can suppliment with a cheap led if needed.
I will be making a lid for my tank out of plastic (i dont want fish jumping out, will that affect the effectiveness of the light?

Absolutely. You will get condensation build up on the underside of the top, which will impact the light's penetration into the tank.

We're currently working on retooling the par meter rental program. Should be available again in a couple of weeks.
You guys are definitely the experts but this seems like too much white to me. Won't this lead to algae issues? Why not recommend ab+ or something from your previous videos? Thanks!
@BRStv

You could use less white if desired. This may assist in more algae growth, but if keeping low nutrients adding some white will be okay. We still try to keep Greens, and Reds lower in the spectrum.

The old MQ-210 has been discontinued, so the MQ-510 that we currently offer for rental has a superior sensor. Unfortunately, yes, that does mean that it costs a few dollars more to rent vs the older model.
Love all the videos but to have have 1 of your 2 “recommendations” be the light that came with the tank is a little unhelpful especially for those looking at the 120g+ sizes. Didn’t ever mention anything about Kessil or hydras or even t5’s I get that it’s a beginner video but some of us with more experience still go back and watch this stuff. Not complaining more of constructive criticism.
