Security Stories 7 - Biker Gangs

If you are a Sons of Anarchy fan you probably have some ideas about Bikers. Of course that was fictional... I got to experience their lifestyle first hand after working two venues that they frequented. We got pretty friendly and I ended up invited to their social events and even a wedding. I talk about some of those experiences and why ultimately I chose to cease the friendship and move on. Doing 23 years of security gave me some unique insights into worlds normally hidden from the average person. Hopefully these videos allow me to cast some light into these darker places..

I worked as a musician in the 80's and 90's. Lost count of the number of biker gigs we played at. Often in their clubs. My impressions are pretty much the same as yours. They tend to run along the same lines. They are brotherhoods, based upon their own type of honour and culture. Respect them, don't ask any questions, stay well clear of their business, enjoy their humour, generosity and company. Play the music they enjoy. After the show pack up and go home. And you'll be welcome back. They were better employers than many bar owners!

yes the good old days of clubs... Mid 1980s was interesting in my rough mining town the Neanderthal on the door deciding if you could enter was dependent upon what football team you supported or how hard you were 🤣 The biker clubs do put on some really big great gigs local to me it's a shame about the corruption and violence. Been riding bikes for 36 years and had thought about getting into a club but then realised you just don't need all the rules because at the time there was still a few rockers on bikes. A good film to watch on the subject is wild hogs it's pretty entertaining ! 👍👍

They seemed to be concerned to a point about they’re public image and as for they’re rules they weren’t even allowed outside the venue for a cigarette. Maybe I’m just from a different era.

But have come across my local chapter of the Hells Angels and another biker club in the past. As long as you respect a 1% club I’ve found they won’t bother you. I’ve also known a few bikers who were, or are, friends of the well known biker clubs (NOT gangs) and they are decent guys as long as you treat them with honesty and respect. Interesting stories and I don't think the biker scene in the UK is that much different than the U.S. You have to be careful if you are invited to a outlaw biker club's club house as if you aren't a patched member or prospect then you are expendable if you make a mistake like get in an argument with the first two. And unless you are a patch you are never really their friend as Gear Guy learned when he was trying to escort them outside during a fight.

  • @alaskansummertime

I lived next door to a one percenter club for about ten years. One thing you have to always remember about these clubs is how much they love to talk Sh*t. Maybe one guy, one time had to wear piss pants but by and large prospects watch the bikes, get beer, sweep, pull weeds, take someone's old lady to the dentist, pull more weeds, etc. It also depends upon day of the week , how much dope or alcohol they have consumed and a host of other factors. Their 'rules' are like Calvin Ball. For instance the club next to me had a strict rule about no illegal BS around the clubhouse. They then started dealing crank with a woman who installed a train horn on her truck and set it off on me every time I worked in the garden. See how those rules change? Its funny people fear these people so much but I can honestly say I talked more Sh*t to this particular club than anyone in history and I can still walk by their clubhouse without fear . That's the other thing. Most clubs know not to start up with the general law abiding public. There are rules for member, other clubs and the general public all allegedly very distinct from one another.

After the age of 38 or so, I notice they are better again, after they find out they were fooled by feminism.

But my mate said , they’re all just a bunch of followers that like wearing a costume. With their patches and all that. We’d get massive bags of cheekies to sell , The Eccys went garbage after the bikies monopolised that. Ruined it. I was in the local lock up once and the dude I was sharing with remembered me, via my mate etc anyway he was waiting to be transported to remand for this body found in the creek behind the local club house. Can’t remember if he got charged but I remember him as kind of mentally feeble, a bit of a follower maybe. Probably got some proper nasty psychos in those clubs followed by equally nasty weaker followers. Waste of space.

It's always so interesting to hear Europeans to discover American violence culture, which has been a feature of American (low) life for generations now. I grew up around gangs, both biker and street. So when you talk about how you can be friends with them, have them kick the shit out of you, and then go right back to being friends, I was like.... yea, that's how it works. So sorry about that. It's not our finest cultural export.

@@thatgearguy so the all the good honest hard working law abiding families who are signed up as members of Manchester United football "club" are automatically gang members because the club as a whole has it's drug dealers and gangster types working within it? I'm almost 100% certain you have never been patched in to a real motorcycle club have you? When you see those little shits running around London all dressed in black with masks on carrying big blades that is a gang. Gangs don't have clubhouses you can visit they don't have email addresses and they certainly don't have trade marked images and world wide corporate status. Now go and cheer for you favourite football team and remember you must be a gang member because that team like any organisation has its fair share of bad people within it. Have a nice day.

The whole concept of the outlaw 1% biker gang is based on a con. They claim to be the 1% of the population that doesn't recognise authority or societal norms. The reality is that 1% isn't a baseline it's a limit. They limit their numbers through gruesome initiation ceremonies etc. If they were to include everyone who disdained authority there'd be so many that the government would be forced to take action and crush them. So they have to keep their numbers small but if they all turned up at the same place you'd know about it. There's a similar situation with the ' travelling community '.

Same with the club scene most people talking here have never ridden with a group of guys who would do anything for eachother at the drop of a hat, most people's so called friends and family wouldn't help you the way brothers in a club would help eachother.
