Take a walk through the Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU)'s Prototype Rooms and meet the clinicians, lived experience and project team members behind the design. The prototype rooms provide a preview of the SMHRU facility, a 40-bed, two-storey purpose-designed facility with an undercroft and linkway to the existing Mental Health (F Block) building, currently under construction on Gold Coast University Hospital campus.
Due for completion in November 2024 and planned for opening in February 2025, the new facility will provide a recovery-orientated, home-like environment for consumers experiencing severe and complex mental health disorders, boosting the number of mental health rehabilitation places in South East Queensland.
