    Great work! Fantastic job at describing the transitions, basic understanding but informative for those seeking to know more. You mentioned how the order because very much like a social gathering rather than an order. And this was the reason for the update and change of rule. It's because of this reason I chose to be enrolled into the 1221 rule. Instead of modification, the Holy Spirit led me to go back to the primative rule as many traditional first orders do. The modern rule was to slack for myself. The name changed to secular franciscans to make clear the secular calling; but it was clear in became secularised rather than a secular/lay order. After all it was a pope who said we are a true order! I personally need specify instruction down to the dot. The pray rule is more specific and challenging but o believe penance is the key to our sainthood. As for labourers finding it difficult I understand to a certain extent, I don't wear my large habit or large scapular when working ( I'm a mechanic), I could do easily but I'd rather not get them filthy. To me a more hidden habit makes it easier to sin socially e.g. you wouldn't be inclined to go clubbing in a habit or getting drunk in one but a cross is easily hidden. The habit is more of a sackcloth and ciclice and though it brings humility to the wearer by the comments of the secular world it brings about simplicity as you wear the same outfit everyday, leaving more time to think about God and pray, it also is a great witness to those intrigued. I have been stopped while on walks or even just shopping for food. Again great video ☺️ fra Joseph Mary

    Enjoyable! Thank you for sharing your insightful research and providing answers to overcome the seeming accepted, immodest dress code standards that are now clothing even the very young. The humanity of the person would be the first thing noticed...not the attire. St. Francis would be pleased!

    I super enjoyed your presentation, because it was both informative and entertaining. You are a natural educator! I would like to find out more on the no-no's I'm certain styles including leggings. Yours is not the first place that I've heard this. I understand from a Religious' standpoint; But I'd like to hear your views on leggings as everyday wear for everyday women. Maybe because I don't have a girlish figure anymore, lol, but I never thought of wearing leggings as being "wrong."

    Maybe in some countries or fraternities there is still a habit allowed for certain occasions, but my understanding is that it was to be phased out. We may still be buried in a habit, though. I believe the Confraternity of Penitents has the same privilege.

    It is very interesting to note when and which brothers and sisters start basically making a new habit. It seems we have a desire to simplify and be set apart, even though we live in the world. NB: Looking at your channel, I wonder if you are in contact with the Confraternity of Penitents?

    @DeannaWillistonOFS

    In the USA, you must be 18 to begin formation and 21 to make Profession. (Prior to 1978, the age was 14, but many joined in highschool and did not continue after graduation. The OFS wishes to communicate that the promises last a lifetime.)

    If you have already been Professed within the Secular Franciscan Order, you may discern joining the Franciscan Society of the Queenship of Mary. This group takes private vows and follows further requirements, but is also an approved group within the OFS. I am in contact with them & will ask if I can post their information/ make a video about them. (Note: I found them a hint about them and then went on a quest to find them, but it was well after I had made this video.)
