Then another car crashed into you, making you a wrath permanently bound to this figure for the rest of time. Forever. The last thing you ever saw was his beautifully terrifying face gazing into your face. Far worse things you could haunt, to be fair, like, for instance, that weirdly painted 200x skeletor.

This is one of the best figure commentary episodes yet. Really interesting backstory and development process. Good work. Also, been meaning to compliment you on how you implement your mid-roll ads. It’s a clever little trick to place _just_ before/after the reveal of the next episode clue. While the Kirby influence is obvious with his helmet, I was just thinking that, since Conan and He-Man took nods from Lovecraft's Cthulhu horrors, on that same note Horde Prime's helmet could be a nod to Dagon worship with its fish semblance. Probably not even close to what anybody was going for but it definitely reminds me of that sort of pagan mitre regalia, and since He-Man already has that Lovecraft precedent, why not?

Fun video! Thank you! Didn't hit me until I rewatched the original She-Ra cartoons that this figure's helmet, face, & shoulder pads were what was faintly visible behind the glowing smoke whenever he was dressing down Hordak. Outsanding attention to detail! This was an excellent figure, and I was really looking forward to it. Besides the one that came with my sub, I bought an extra, day-of-sale, for tinkering with. Painted his eyes with red glow-in-the-dark / UV rave club paint, picked out his arm circuitry in silver, and gave him a red velvet cape (to go with his "Velvet Glove") for easier balance and posing. And then his staff arrived in a later Weapons Pak, and all was well. May try cobbling together a hand-held version of his crossbow at some point . . . .

Before he was a sinister strategists so to speak, in his younger days he was the conquering evil cosmic warrior that evolved into what he is now. Then after learning his backstory and the alt head, I really started to appreciate the character and how he is not a copy of Hordak, but someone else with his own depth, also to be Hordak's boss surprised me. I didn't recall she-ra episodes back then so I didn't really know who he was other than a Hordak look-alike. I never cared much for the concept of Horde Prime. I always thought that Hordak should be the ultimate master of the Horde. Of course being from Germany I'm very much used to the characterizations in the audio plays. They're still in many ways the definitive version of MotU in my head canon. I did like the cartoon as a kid too. However, I find it totally unbearable today while the audio plays are still very good. Especially the earlier ones. If you've got anything on those audio plays an episode on them would be really cool. After all, you did Anti He-Man.

I really don't like Horde Prime as a character in the lore, it cheapens Hordak. And then by degrees Skeletor. However, 2 or 3 years ago I came across HP on Amazon and just had to have him. I quick bought several MOTU classics figures. Mostly ones that the 2000 line didn't get to. Recently, I've gone back and purchased several more. Weird, but the mystery of HP was a big part of that.

So you’re telling me that toy companies can’t understand basic marketing? All good “widget” selling companies know they need a product for every member of the family, even if one of those products isn’t a big seller and sometimes even if that product is a money loser. As the father of 3 different 4 year olds throughout 3 different decades, I would have definitely taken them shopping for preschool toys more often if there had also been something there for me to buy. Hasbro would do nothing but INCREASE their bottom line by keeping the action figure aisle fully stocked like they do the preschool aisle. Also, they’d get rid of all the “hasbro hate” just by keeping the pegs full. It’s baffling that you would support them not taking a marketing action that has been tried and is true in other “widget” markets.

  • @spectorcreative1872

@serick73 If I may? It seems like a lot of the affection stems from him doing his best to hand us the info straight up, with a positive attitude, with no snark or nastiness with reviews, opinions, those sorts of things. Glossing over some questions, it looks like he's sifting through lots of information every day -- and it is a lot. And, I could be wrong of course. That is entirely possible. But the positivity goes a long way. Let's face it: we (yeah, I said "we", as in me too) are grown-ass adults who have been bitter and resentful about..... .....toys. Uh, OK. The enthusiasm and friendliness is refreshing. Just my take on it.

@@TitularHeroine it’s frustrating to present a legitimate point and have Scott completely dismiss it. I’m in marketing too and you don’t have to sell toys to know how markets work.
