Even as Hillary Clinton spoke up for LGBT rights abroad, she opposed full LGBT marriage rights and federal benefits in the U.S.; only coming out in favor of gay marriage once it was very politically safe to do so in 2013.

She says whatever she thinks makes her popular, but I have to admit she's very good at it.

Gay rights were very unpopular in the states and under the republicans , congress wanted a constitutional amendment making marriage only between a man and a woman the law of the land. Making pro gay rights speeches did not make her popular with most voters back then or from you post with you.

Marriage is not our entire struggle despite what Sanders tried to push on America. She always stood with us and fought for us for my entire adult life. And I'm old. The very first act of President Bill Clinton was the order to allow gays to serve in the military. That order set off a huge right wing backlash against us and we activists and the Clinton's were more cautious in how we went about achieving our gains. Marriage wasn't ready until the critical mass of us came out and tole our friends, families, co workers and peers that we wanted marriage. Hillary gave her PUBLIC support of marriage equality right after her boss President Obama was able to. Neither were ever against us, it was just too soon. And btw, Bernie never gave his public support until 2009, after legal marriage passed in Vermont.

I came here today because I'm simply devastated at what Trump is doing to America. Splitting families at the border, and now pulling out of the UN Council on Human Rights.

This was over 4 and a half years ago. She has always been a progressive. I too am a Christian like Hillary and had my doubts about gay marriage and over time have changed my mind but I have always thought they had rights like any other human being. I find this very refreshing. She is saying she can be religious and also be pro human rights and that means gay rights. #imwithher. At least she is progressing and not going back in time like Trump. He's changed his views backwards to anti-human right and anti-womans rights.

Ok, your entitled to your opinion, but the fact of the matter is no one is a representative of the entire community. We are not all living lives revolving around promiscuity, drugs, the club scene, and Grindr. We aren't all waiting for the next fix, or which straight guy to turn. There are those which wish to live their lives immersed in carnal pleasures, I choose to live it in intellect, in spirituality, and as a defender of our community, through science and reason.

I agree with you here, there is no need to get angry over an argument or debate, it shows weakness and general inadequacy with what we believe in...

I'm happy to speak out against anyone who tries to have sex with someone who can't consent, whether it be children, animals, or the disabled. There's a big difference between allowing two consenting adults the right to love and letting a person take advantage of someone who does not have the mental capacity to consent. Don't take my comment out of context. I wasn't implying that people who do partake in those activities are indecent at all. I was commenting that many of us are decent people because he was implying that we were all immoral, abnormal, etc... You are riding my comment and making it personal, I respect everyone, live and let live. I was trying to make him see our humanity, I have been through some shit in my life to be dismissed as an immoral, indecent person..thats why i said that....

An adult human being can give consent, Animals can not. That is why it is perfectly acceptable for an adult man to have sex with another adult man if he so chooses to do so but not to have sex with an animal. Next question.
