Spike! DUDE! This might be my favorite episode yet!!!! Bravo good sir! I'm kinda glad the audio went out! Your VO with all the history, descriptions, interpretations, adjectives? lol, and everything! As a gin guy now, I gotta try that flying fish! Absolute Awesome Story Telling! Bourdain who? "No Tiki Reservations!" Cheers!

Adjectives! 😂🙌 Thank you, Chris!
'Nuther great show, Spike! The voiceover was well paced and totally worked. And your camera really picked up the color in all that cool lighting in the bar. Fun! Thanks for all the fine efforts!

One can never have too many lamps!!!
Let Elvis drink with the patrons! He had a hard (supposed) death on a toilet! Let him drink with Spike and Tiffany.😂
I remember when this was a stand alone hot dog hut on La Cienega and Beverly Blvd. We would stop for a hot dog then go to a local nightclub that was just a block away. It's gone through so many owners and promises of being restored, and I'm so happy it finally has been. Did you talk into the barrel to get into the club?
Great episode! Thanks for the mention for making the history stand! Crazy to think all that bamboo and matting and decor sat in storage for 20 years! Bobby Green and his art director Nathan Cabreezy did an amazing job putting that place together and super quickly!! Love all those hanging lamps! Great voice over! Reminded me of Bruce Brown.
Can you have too many tiki lamps? I say, whatever floats your boat, baby! Tiki is all about creating atmosphere through escapism. So the more varied the tiki lamp, the better. Provided you've got the space. Aloha.
This was not the level of video I was expecting from a hot dog stand episode. Loved it

The VO was even more chill than hearing that lost audio 🤙
Lighting! Would love a show just talking about wiring up a room for so many lights with what to do and what not to do.
oh and you can NEVER have too many hanging tiki lamps
Ambiance 10/10 Hospitality 10/10 Theming 10/10 Drinks 4/10 Mai Tai was underwhelming but okay. I feel like my captains inner circle was made wrong because it tasted like water. Looking forward to the smugglers cove takeover though.
Great video! My wife and I will have to try to visit here when we’re in LA while remembering to keep an eye out for the pickle barrel. Also, no, I do not think that you can have too many Tiki lamps in one establishment.
The more lamps the better and truly great video. Absolutely loved it.
I actually liked the lack of audio. Your VO was spot on with the edit.

Cool place. Never can have too many tiki lamps. Great job of the VO! I think it was better than a wireless mic in a loud atmosphere.

spot on review!!!! This was exactly my experience here as well... I cant wait to go back once they've expanded their menu.
Hard to concentrate whenever Tiffany is on ❤ but what a fun episode…great lamps, drinks are a bit different but I would love to sample; great voice over, editing and camera work 👏👏👏

Never can have enough lamps! Love this & can't wait to go.
No never too many Tiki Lamps, Ever!!!
cool stuff thanks .Tiffany looked so pretty in the light of the tiki lamps .wow
Nice job with this episode. I especially liked how you rolled with their assortment of liquors being short on rums. And how is it possible that Tiffany has gotten even prettier?
Yet another on my bucket list! Looks awesome! I love the "secret"/hidden aspect of it. The burning rosemary was cool! You think maybe it was dipped in 151 or lemon extract or something? Also, love these kind of videos dude! Nice work!

Happy accident on the audio! I dig the VO. Not having to fight with ambient sound and having an opportunity to kinda script out your comments really makes for a nice presentation. Slick, but still personal. Well done!

I like your Tiki bar tours/reviews Spike. They let me know where to go and what to expect if I finally make it to California or Vegas.
Hey Spike, Speakeasy Tiki must be a trend. A new Tiki bar opened up this spring in Oro Valley, AZ -- a NW suburb of Tucson. Other than a 6' Moai in front of what looks like an empty office space -- which is their back door/emergency exit -- there is no marqee, no external sign. . is in the back of a casual restaurant called the Landing. [Fish tacos are their thing,] Around the back of an Enterprise Rent-A-Car office, there is a wall covered in fake ivy going up 10 or 12 feet. The front door is hidden in a little section of the fake ivy. Once inside, there are the usual dim glass float lamps, and an irregularly-shaped bar is the center of the space. Inside the bar is a huge idol of a big Moai being strangled and eaten by a huge Cthonic octopus. The side walls are lined with high glass cases enshrining a huge tiki mug collection. Drinks are served in normal glassware. [But they just opened.] They say their MaiTai is the 1944 Trader Vic's formula, and I find it strong. They use an overproof white rum. Three pineapple leaves are the garnish. No lime shell [lime juice is pre-squeezed] and no Mint leaves. Runs $18. Their Fried Rice with Shrimp was good. [$15] but they give you a Fork, no Chopsticks.Their menu is different than the Landing's but they share the same kitchen and crew. Patrons can't move from one place to the other without going outside. Open thursday thru Sunday. I remember Tail of the Pup. I went to Holywood High and LACC in the Late '60s/Early '70s, before the family moved to Tucson. Aloha.

Love your review videos! 👏👏
Ghost of Jim Morrison was refreshing to me, I went to lucky tiki last month wasn’t too sweet or strong and I sat at the bar. Awesome decor and drink’s were pretty good The doors recorded LA woman, kool piece of history. 🍻🍹, looking forward to the next tiki adventure you post. Thank you!
Cool fact about The Doors with the burning rosemary drink. They were my favorite band in H.S.
Wow, it's already completely booked. I wanna go!!!
Awww Elvis has left the table 😮💨 No never too many lamps hanging or table

Was there a few weeks ago. I found the drinks just to be "OK" not great. I know they batch make their drinks so depending when made that could effect overall quality. The place itself is really nice when it comes to the décor and whole vibe of the place. Worth going once, but I doubt I'll be back. My SoCal favs are Strongwater in Anaheim and False Idol in San Diego with Stowaway as a honorable mention in Tustin.
need to go!

Visually, this place looks great. Presentation looks pretty good too. However, the drink reviews don’t seem to justify $20 a pop.
I’ve gotta G O !
I'm a rum guy so that menu kind of falls short for me. I'd like to try some of them but I would prefer more rum based drinks.
No offense to Tiffany but I love this voiceover style 😅
BREEZEWAY THE GOSPEL OF TIKI
They really missed out an obvious opportunity for a crossover with the "Tail of the Pup" for a (cough, cough) "creative" hot dog garnish on that "Give Me A Little Head" cocktail... just sayin'!!! 😳🙄🤷♂😜
In closing we are paying taxes for dolphin HJs.
Ok Lucky Tiki or Tonga Hut?
I did not like any of the four drinks ordered by both me and my friend. I really would like them to have more signature drinks that are classic tiki or variations. I left just missing the drinks from Lono so much- can they get their bartenders to bring that menu here- I think THEN we would have something truly special. I will never forget that Banana Boo Loo. I would also like to go back again and sit at the bar and see what the bartenders can do off menu bc the vibe is awesome I just really really would like to see this menu go to the next level.
Well, I Hope You Got Lucky! Still Missing The 'Good Luck' Bar At Vermont & Sunset in Los Feliz. TOTP Is A Weird Hybrid, But Bobby Is For Real, So, Cool...
If I made a drink called The Ghost of Jim Morrison, it would be some kind of fat washed Bourbon with a sidecar of flatulence and pretension.
$20 drinks!!!! 😂 GTFO

Just think 🤔 one cocktail 🍸 a McDonald’s employee got $20 in a hour 😳I know, weird comparison 😵💫$20 drink still 💕😬
Not digging this current tiki cocktail revival that seems to shun rum.
