For the love of God, Spike-please move the greenery. How many guests have to struggle with it?

No way!!! You have to be able to survive the Breezeway Jungle to be on the show. Ed and McBiff can do it... so anyone should be able too!! ;)
Rolling citrus absolutely gets more juice. Breaks up the fibers and juice cells. Also the release of oils from the skin gives you a nice aroma.

Yes, absolutely. I use to bartend many moons ago and we all rolled the citrus beforehand.
I roll my limes every time! It definitely softens them which I think allows you to extract the most juice!

See ya at VLV!
Fantastic episode! My wife and I are big fans of Duke & Lola so we were happy to see you all get together, even if poor Duke couldn’t find a place to stand without knocking his noggin 😁. We also love how the tale of the “Palmer Pour” of 151 rum has now become the stuff of legends and is part of the lore of the Breezeway 😅!

Haha. Well we shot this at 11pm after 4 hours of shooting the breezeway, so I was jetlagged and a bit out of it. Spike was great.

A very enjoyable and entertaining episode! I’ve been wanting to try the Hawaiian Sunset, so thanks for featuring it - now I have somewhat of an idea of what to expect. Aloha Spike, Duke, and Lola from VT.

It's worth making!
Looks great to me. I LOVE the BEAUTIFUL flower set in her hair! I love that Tiki Bar. I shall try this drink.
Another great episode, Spike! Thanks for sharing tonight's drink recipe!
I do "the thing" I don't know that it gives more juice, but it softens the fibers up making it easier to squeeze
Spike! You've got you've got to get Aloha Caftan Society members on the show! Caftan! Caftan! Contact Baby Doe! Caftan! 😂

Thanks. It was fun!
made this tonight, and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it is. ours came out more pink than brown, but that must be because of the grenadine we used (NOT Rose's, but still, very vibrant red).

Made it. Fantastic! Instant spot on the Hindsight Tiki Bar drink menu. Thank you for all of your hard work bringing the history and flavor back to us. Maybe a sugar rim for the garnish?
I always roll my limes! I'll stop doing it when they pry one out of my cold, dead hands! 🙂

And according to your cocktail test, Spike: I WOULD order it again. I’m getting “blueberry Pop-Tart (tm) for sure.
Rolling citrus breaks up the pulp to a degree allowing easier extraction of the juice. It also expresses some oils from the peel giving your bar top surface a refreshing scent, and possibly damaging the finish over time.
Roll the limes!
my grandpa invented the Hawaiian sunset for a special event with the Chiquita banana lady ....he was a bartender in the military alot of these drinks know one really knows where they cam from

You will need High Roller Wrist bands for the Viva event. :)
The meet up at the Madonna Inn is called Pink Caftan's on Parade on a weekend in October.
I used to do "the thing," but now what I do is trim the ends and cut the lime the long way (with the grain instead of against the grain). It's a lot easier to juice that way, and you get more juice, because you're not trying to squeeze the lime against all of those fibers that make up the internal structure of the lime (the grain). Also, if you want a lime wedge for a garnish, just cut however many wedges you need before squeezing.

Good point!
I c9uld be wrong but I think the grenadine is a a pour over at the end that helps gives a layered look so more like a hawaiin sunrise
I was waiting for the garnish.
I’m having a Hawaiian Sunset while watching this Hawaiian Sunset! I like it - more complex than I thought it would be. Curious about the grenadine though- your recipe calls for three teaspoons, while the version of the total Tiki app it calls for one teaspoon grenadine. I’ll have to try it with three tps next time.
I made this cocktail a few months ago and it was a bit more pink in colour. I guess it depends on the brand of orgeat and grenadine used. I agree it’s an unusual taste to many Tiki cocktail but not bad.

So I juice my limes like this.. first WASH em good, then cut a lime in half and juice as normal. Afterwards take those juiced shells and stack em on top of each other in your squeezer and juice it again. You end up getting 1/4~1/2oz extra juice plus more of those tasty oils from the peels 🍹
Made the drink but changed out the lemon for a tangerine and the vodka with white rum ... So much better.
Aloha
I love her dress! Can you please find out its source?
I do the thing!

Spike, isn't making a cocktails from Las Vegas breaks the cardinal rule? I.e. what happens in LV stays in LV?
You had me until vodka. I don’t understand how it’s a tiki drink unless it has rum. But I doesn’t look bad. I’m sure my wife would drink something like that
