SECOND YEAR Nursery business - preparing for a MAKE or BREAK year.

This really is a make or break year for us as we move into our second year as a full time nursery business. Here's how we're gearing up, in late winter, to get ready for plant sales about 1 month from now as warmer weather is on the horizon.

I watch your videos every day. I told my wife "It's like being in school., but in my recliner." Personally, I would love to see a "date stamp" (?) to be able to relate to the time of year for activities. "We did these 6 months ago..." doesn't help me if I don't know when 6 months ago was. Maybe I'm just being selfish. In any event I REALLY enjoy your videos. They've been a great help for my wife & I in our new nursery business.

So glad to see everything (almost at lest) seems to have survived the brunt of winter. It's a concern of mine up here in th Black Hills. While I'm zone 5, almost everything else is zone 4... and I had read that in order for something to survive a winter in a container, it should be hardy to the next zone colder than you are... and while I'm always looking for zone 4 perennials, it doesn't seem like there is a lot to choose from. I thought I might have o throw a fw straw bales of a few groups of pots... I might still... but it is a LITTLE less worrying watching this.

You've done a lot and wow does it make me jealous how much you can do without government interference! I have to get a development permit to have a retail area on my tree farm and the permit costs $500 with no structures allowed. If I add structures its now $750 for the permit and on top of that for the structures I have to get building permits, occupancy permits, and they require engineered drawings. Yuck! That's Canada for you though. Regulated to death.
