Second Round Corner Options for the Eagles

Спорт

If the Eagles don't select a corner in round one, there are several good options available on Day 2. Who are the best options?

The youtube police blocked this video unless I blurred out some of the clips so I apologize for the few clips towards the end of the video that had to be edited out.

Relative to the 1st podcast y’all did, which I liked, but commented my few “concerns” (for lack of a better term), ALL WERE ADDRESSED HERE. I definitely think #Nick “leading” & beginning convos w/ his technical & data-& experience-driven material before the conversation then expands to GENERALIZE & APPLY (through both of y’all’s knowledge-bases) was IMHO BY FAR AN EXCELLENT PODCAST. HIGHLY INFORMATIVE; VERY PARSIMONIOUS; & EXTREMELY ENGAGING, while highlighting BOTH of your individual strengths. #NailedIt. This is now, BY FAR, my MOST FAVORITE CHANNEL FOR #Eagles content, & could/would be highly applicable even tp others interested in 1) LEARNING THE GAME (in-depth) for newer fans; 2) GENERALIZING these techniques to assessing players at colleges, HS’s, & even other NFL teams; & 3) INCORPORATING the mindsets & study-habits exhibited here to those seeking to get into coaching (or even are early in their coaching pipelines) - eg, GAs, new Assistants at the HS & even Positional Levels, or even those interested in getting into scouting/recruiting.

Stoked that we upgraded the podcast -- your feedback was greatly appreciated and I think I can speak for both Nick and I, we are open to constructive critique and want to bring the best possible product to our audience. As we hit the dog days this offseason, we will certainly do podcasts/videos that are meant for football education, but in a easy-to-digest format, avoiding using jargon that non football junkies won't understand. Keep the feedback coming because we feel yours is well-thought out and highly valuable in our effort to continually improve

Let's talk about Eli Ricks. Everyone is downplaying his skillset. Rick's may outplay anyone who gets drafted!!!

That one play Ennis was in cover three which means he covered the line to the end zone. He saw the safety abandoned his responsibility and covered the slot over the top. So, he hezzied because of the safety. That's how Ennis got beat there.

You and by extension of this video buddy are just different! 6:38 he mentions a guy, underclass men that I have no idea exists but without a moments hesitation you spit out the name like it was present on your frontal lobe since day 1 of birth. Can tell you inhale tape like hair the both of yous…made this video and your resume certified immediately…such an easily overlooked detail but that’s where the devil lives 😈…excellent work man and nice choice for the collab…almost wanna say nothing less to be expected…amazing bro!

Lassiter is my brand of DB. Strikes me as a great value version of Devon Witherspoon. I'm a big believer having a smarter 11 guys than my opponent, and I think he fits that bill. I also definitely think nickel CBs are and should be considered considered starters.

Sirs, what are your plans for this channel? I'm curious. I agree with the gentleman. Much smoother flow. Also, why are the topics corners? I feel like the eagles need some other players as well.

Can you share your thoughts on Jahdee Brown, Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith as we still have a need at safety too.

I think Eagles have greater need at outside corner. Also, slowness was a real problem last year. Eagles need to significantly increase overall defensive backfield speed!!!

I agree, but long term they have a need at both. This was going over scenarios where the Eagles don't get a corner in the first and looking at potential round 2 options (with many of them likely going to play slot).

So Nick would you suggest these the #Eagles draft #Lassiter over/before or after/under them drafting an #OffBall #LB in #Cooper, #Colson (both seen as sure 2nd rounders & some adding #Trotter above the later names, who could w/in certain systems be enticing to take late in the 2nd/early 3rd). Those would be: #Magee, or #Gray, #Bertrand, #Barrett, or #Gant (admittedly the last 3 are largely seen as 4th or higher, BUT I’m seeing Magee, Gray, & Bertrand begin to move up into 3rd even in public mocks as they eval the coverage K run stopping abilities of all three players).

  • @PhillyFilmRoom

I would take Lassiter over the LBs in the 2nd. I think Cooper is more of a developmental/situational player than people think right out of the gate and he's more of WLB than a MLB. He's better suited in a role where he can run clean and chase the ball carrier vs sorting/processing and playing thru traffic. The other LBs I think are more likely to go in the 3rd or 4th round anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to see a small trade back from one of the 2nds to pick up an extra pick and then take a LB.

@@PhillyFilmRoom so you wouldn’t take Cooper I’m guessing since he played the Jack (UGA’s weak $) that played “off” but came in a lot when UGA’s TITE/MINT fronts ran similar plays to your earlier video involving Vic’s Whip Fire Zone? Or am I misunderstanding your comment above? So would you grab Colson as the Mike given his coverage & run stopping abilities along w/ say Magee or Bertrand or Gray & one of the latter 2?

  • @PhillyFilmRoom

    @PhillyFilmRoom

@JCarverAuburn I would take Cooper but if given the choice between the 2 I would take Lassiter. I like Colson and Payton Wilson as well, so in this scenario I'd like to grab Lassiter and then try to get one of Colson or Wilson (or Cooper if he's still available).

@@PhillyFilmRoom yea I’m a Junior Colson & then Magee from Temple as linebackers. Or if Colson’s also lost try to grab Trotter Jr & Magee to both play similar MLB styles but have complementary skills w/ one in run & other pass more so.

@@PhillyFilmRoom once you said that I went back & started watching his games we’d saved (half family went to ATM) & he was almost like Nolan @ UGA who played “Jack” in their TITE/MINT defense, esp looking like Cooper when in MINT front
