Sometimes it’s hard to know when you should say yes to a second date. I’ve had clients who thought it was quite obvious that they should NOT go on a second date… and they were very wrong. I am sharing that story today as well.

I absolutely agree that at my point in life, 63-year-old boomer, that physical attraction is not an overriding factor because that can grow. Primarily I want to see a person with a big heart and a sense of humor who cares about me. You're right on target to say this may take a few dates to find this out. I'm not counting out physical attraction but in the same vein, I'm not a model and I certainly don't expect her to be one either.

Most of the population is never going to be dating a human in the top 2% of attractiveness. (A model)

@@CoffeewithCarey Absolutely agreed but a lot of the media out tells us to strive for that 2%. It is a shame but it sells.

David’s a funny guy. A sense of humor is very appealing and we typically feel fondly for people who make us laugh and smile.
Carey - I'm a bit confused. Do you see attraction as the same thing as chemistry? Or do you differentiate between the two?

There is conversational chemistry, emotional chemistry, physical chemistry…
it takes 6 dates to feel sparks? I never cross paths with anyone I want to ask out. plus I'm mostly out with family when I am. I'll have to force myself to go to a bar, and deal with the pain of sitting in a cafe (coffee smell burns) waiting for someone to look at to ask out. I don't know the capacity of my emotions. I mostly fall for fictional characters, and lots of women tell me to stick with the imaginary men. I'm so tried of falling for copyrighted men. i'm 40 and still do.

I think the question is whether or not you are happy with the way things are or whether you feel you are missing out on some thing you want. There’s nothing wrong with being alone. I don’t think you are confusing reality with these fictional characters you enjoy. But just so that we are clear…that’s not love. that’s fantasy.
