Thanks, i didn't know about the safety issue of this. I will sort mine asap now. Good to see a professional advice video. 👍
My seat belt had issues retracting; wouldn't retract unless it was fed through. I washed it in a bucket of water with laundry detergent and it did absolutely nothing. Belt would still not retract. What DID WORK was using sand paper to clean the D-ring (I used 100 grit). It worked perfectly.

I have the exact same issue thank you!!!!
I washed the belt and it helped a little but the sandpaper trick worked like a charm!!! I was all set to take my car to the shop. THANK YOU!!!
Failed WOF Just came back from AA Auto centre they told me it would cost me $300+ or min $280, followed your instructions and it’s working better then rest of the three seat belts Thank you so much :)
I too have a very very slow seat belt recovery! Each time I get into the drivers seat I'm having to adjust it making sure it's snug! I will try cleaning it! Many thanks!
Amazing! This really worked. Thought for sure I was going to have to go buy a new seat belt. Thank you so much! 👏👏👏
Wow!! And I was about to purchase a brand-new belt for $159! Thank man!!
very cool thank you! was already thinking of changing the whole mechanism
Great job! Thanks a bunch.I'll be all set once I get the sandpaper.

the problem in 20 years old cars is the spring

Hi, thanks for your video! I also had an additional seat belt issue but can’t find any info anywhere. My shoulder height adjuster is stuck in the highest position somehow, I can’t seem to figure out why, do you have a video doing a repair on this? Or maybe you can help? I’m sorry this isn’t directly related to this current video. Hope to hear back, thank you!
Thanks
Great video, thank you .
What would you use on a buckle that is sticking?
Would cleaner such as "Goo Gone Automotive" work for this purpose? Thanks!
sometimes its the rotor which causes the problem.

But 99% of cases it's dirty and rigid seatbelt ;) Try dry PTFE lube
I which i had a slow detracting seat belt at least i would know that when i get back it would be in but i have a no retracting seat belt. Well not quite, it goes in maybe half way but im tired of smashing the buckle at the bottom of the door.
Get one.
My problem is the nylon is torn at the edge of the seatbelt l cant retact the belt out. What do l do?
What if its the rewind spring ?
What if the seat belt is totally clean
What about a locking seatbelt ?
my seat belt sensor is not working how to fix it.
What if the seat belt won't come out at all?
I would advise people to use sandpaper first!! Cleaning belt next stage will get rid of any any grit etc ,from using the sandpaper.

Be careful with that info, you need to tell them what number to use cause they can mess up their material . I recommend telling them a sponge

@@cecilsparcel9224 I don't think he meant to use sandpaper on the seatbelt. Just that you should switch to do the sandpaper step first.
I'm looking for reasons WHY IT WON'T RETRACT!!! Not slow retraction!!! Too many vids that say the same thing but don't actually deliver?!?!
He is holding the belt half way out in the demostration, were there is more tention on the spring and thats what makes it look its working perfect. I had clrened it the same way and still does not retract.

This works exactly as detailed. If you have a dirty, greasy D ring my video its the exact fix. Has nothing to do with how I'm holding the belt. If your belt doesn't retract it must be a different issue.

you should change the title to slow retracting seat belt instead of seat belt will not retract, it is deceiving

Thats only because you have seen this issue cause that problem. Our shop see's over 300 vehicle per month, thats about 3600-4000 per year. Ive been doing this for 24 years and seen it many times where people wait or dont know what to do. So no, this isnt deceiving. You just know any better.

Why is every video titles won't retract but its actually about slow retract?! My seat belt WONT retract. It's completely slack and this video title just wastes my time!

That’s a lot of dirt and grime build up 😀
@mw3579

@@brysonzno complete non retraction has nothing to do with dirt or grime. It's a problem with the retracting mechanism itself.
@mw3579

I'd recommend replacing the retraction mechanisms inside the car. That's the only reason I can think of for causing the issue
Absolutely ZERO results from this.
Cleaning the belt isn’t addressing the issue. Rename your video.
