best to glaze it to the top dont wory about a bit running out put more borax in it as gold will stick to top where not glazed only tiny thou great work mate

Hey mate, great vid. That looks like a graphite crucible? From my experience, graphite crucibles don't like being subject to an open flame for too long. I find that they are more suited to an induction heater. But what you've done here, had it been a clay/graphite crucible, would have definetely done the job. Seeing as you're melting gold.. I would opt for a small ceramic dish crucible, and heat with a carborizing flame using oxy/acet.

@@MurrayRiversGoldAdventures Nice one mate. Just a word of warning though... It's highly addictive. I used to collect and sell copper to scrap yards.. Now I buy it off them just so I can pour a fresh ingot😌

I only use Quartz crucibles glaze the whole thing and everything runs nice no sticking

Need to try different gas to see how much hotter it gets

Good job, there's heaps of videos on how to do it on a thing called KZread 😂 , if you need tips! You can only get better. 1 thing i will ask is with the ports in the side of the furnace, do they go straight in or are they angled? Cheers Andy

I got it from Market Place on Facebook. It's a US set-up. There's an Australian setup very similar called Hobos Gold Furnace. I couldn't get one shipped over from there.
