LYRICS:
If you only knew
If you only knew
I miss the sound of you calling
I miss your voice on the phone
Miss your out of time tapping to the songs we both know
I’ve your lipstick kissed cigarette you left in the tray
It’s the last thing you kissed I can’t throw it away
I miss missing you all day and hurrying home
But now I find loneliness and being alone,
Are two separate feelings, the firsts how I feel
It’s the bone that stays broken the cut that won’t heal
I’m still your man
I’m still your man
I’m still your man
Still your Gritterman
I feel you beside me your perfume the same
Your head on my shoulder you whisper my name
And so I continue in my old fashioned way
To say the same things that I used to say
I’m still your man
I’m still your man
I’m still your man
Still your Gritterman

I love this song. I first heard it a couple of years ago listening to Joe Whylie one evening around six months after my late partner had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. I reduced me to a wreck. I played the song at her funeral less than a year later.

Oh wow. This is really beautiful, the Maccabees were one of my favourite bands so its good to see Orlando still making some really great music.

Fantastic. The Maccabees were one of my favorite bands but this doesn't sound too far off from one of their quieter later career tracks and the lyricism is beautiful. Orlando's voice is in top form, as always.

Utterly beautiful, nostalgic. I can feel the whole atmosphere of sadness and resignation as well, that this song carries. What a wonderful work, Orlando. So proud and happy to keep admiring your art. Wishing you the best in this new project!

This is my place, number 25. I've been here a good while. Not as long as the wallpaper, but longer than the curtains. I live here alone these days, my Joyce sadly no longer with us. The vicar tells me she's gritting my path to heaven. I told him that was unlikely. I think she might leave that job for me, eh?! She was good like that, my Joy, generous. Don't get me wrong though, she had a temper. She could boil water with a look! I will miss her for her funny ways. I will miss her for her turn of phrase. I will miss her company on the slower days. I will miss our sing-a-longs to Songs of Praise. I will not miss her gossip about what he says and she says and they says about what she says. But in all other ways I'll miss her. I read that at her service.

Someone please put the lyrics on the comment section, my second language is English and it is easier for me to understand the meaning of a song if I read it. I would really appreciate it.
