It did work fine until they increased the amount of LP you get to compensate for shorter splits. Now rank adjusts far faster than MMR and causes fucked up shit to happen.

​​@@user-xx2kc8bz9ymate u missed what the ither dude was saying, ranking worked really well, matchmaking? A whole different situation. In terms of lp gains since they did their revamp of the ranked system it overcorrected the rank with your mmr being still good as a measuring system. That way your rank was usually higher than your hidden MMR. So you couldn't climb. I'd rather see less rank correction and a visible MMR so u will know when to expect this instead of "fixing when positive winrate players don't climb" as winning doesn't mean u played well and deserve the lp. It would be even greater to se a system that will give u lp based on if u performed well (meaning if u carried but lost u still get lp, even if u get less) or not but I don't expect this as that's a quitr hard system to implement and they are just an indie company.

The best way to stop cheaters is to make cheating suck, one game made cheating players randomly do alot less damage, or get longer death timers, have the game crash/dc randomly, limit the LP losses and gains for other players. have their flash randomly go off, etc. Basicly mess with them when they are cheating distorying their advantage. You need software that detects cheaters but banning them doesn't work because they just come back, messing with them does because they get frustrated and either uninstall the cheats or leave. Plus it's funny to watch cheaters get messed with imagine if morgana's q turn around and follow the cheater while their software did everything to try and dodge it until it hit, it's both obvious that they are cheating and funny because they gain a disadvantage. ya maybe the developer "fixes' the cheat but as a cheater you know that you are both about to get exposed at any time, and that you are going to have a bad time with a paid for cheat.

@@noname-sl7vf new champs aren't super memorable, and get lost in the massive pool of champs that already exist anyway. Having a new champion just isn't that exciting anymore when you're nearing over halfway to 200 of them. Meanwhile, they've been /needing/ to fix several issues regarding not only the visuals and clarity of older champs, but also just making their kits useable in modern league. They say they care so much about sales and how they lose out by updating a champ, but I call bullshit, because if you updated a champ to actually be playable people would be interested in the fucking champ and all their skins once they got updated and could actually work in the game finally. They're full of shit and are being led by a leash held by a bunch of fucking stockholders that know jack shit about what the actual players want, and eventually it's going to fail their game.

Imagine only having 1 VGU each year.

Even if Vangaurd itself isn't malicious, third party hackers can use it to execute other malicious code on your system. It is completely unnecessary for league and it brings a security vulnerability to your system. A huge red flag.

It's just Riot is not only extremely transparent about this fact they also straight up tell you in the video. I've been reading the comments for awhile and for all the people complaining about Vanguard I've weirdly become more and more ok with it being in League. I always thought the reason hexakill never came back was because of client issues. So if we can get 16 players in a single game and support that interface in client, then why not give us hexakill on SR, ARAM, TT or even the nexus blitz map, a true 6v6 map experience. Come on Riot, I'm waiting.

Its because they have to work more because release champions only need their base skin + a launch skin while VGUs and ASUs need to run through several skins. The problem isn't that thought, it's not that much work, but its the fact they have to work more for VGUs AND they are far less profitable and marketable than new champions, so the higher ups are obviously gonna want new champions to be a bigger priority when it comes to manpower and resouces.

Designiing a new chamo takes even more time compared to reworking one. We only hear about these new champs, as soon as they are mostly finished.

i love that riot giving away 2-3 skins for champs like lux, ahri, ezreal and many others, giving them 2+ legendaries and prestiges, while some champs just glad that they receive a skin once in 2+ years.

With proper collusion with the authorities, cheaters being tracked down and the ones they got the cheats from being tracked down and made to never do it again along with the ones they sold cheats to being made to never use them again in games where not everyone agreed to them, the problem would be non-existent. Also, the white hats will send patches back fixing issues they find, and the white hats + League anti-cheat team themselves should EASILY outnumber the black hats and render them ineffective, without which the skiddies can't exist. And frankly, if you yourself manage to hack a video game and get away with it, you kinda deserve to cheat, and the amount of people with the skill and inclination would be so low it wouldn't be a real problem, especially if each such person would pretty much encounter only unique players in their game, as the odds of them also being super high elo (the only area where you consistently get the same teammates), are practically non-existent.

It's not just by virtue / character related, it literally risks my poor ol laptop to be bricked. I have anime, 3D modelling and Vtubing as other side hobby that I had long been procrastinating from so it may finally be the time to have more focus on other hobbies.

Been playing since season 4 but Riot crossed the line with this anti-cheat. First thing I did after watching this video is nuke everything Riot related off my system. No way am I letting them install spyware. If I ever load up the game again it'll be in a virtual machine.

Vanguard (anti-cheat) operates at Kernel level on your machine, which gives it clearances for everything on your machine, soft- and hardware. Edit: So do other AC programs, but they are not active from boot and you have to consider who RGames is owned by.

Not really, EasyAnticheat does the same thing and look at how many people play fortnite and apex. Riot can have your information without kernel access, and the only way to combat cheats (that are kernel level) is to use kernel level anticheat. @@bernardomacedo9848

I have being playing this game for 10+ years (haven't played in months though), but the fact that they are bringing vanguard to LoL is the final nail for me to decide to actually uninstall the game. I kept it installed just in case I wanted to come back. But I guess now I never will.

I played this game for 10 years and every season I have more than a 1.000 games - it’s the only game I ever really played and never once have I thought someone was cheating. Botted smurf accounts could potentially be annoying for new players so I get this - but there is 100 ways to fix this. For example if all games is intro to level 30 its a bot and if they play normal games let community ban them. Extremely disappointed in the decision to use Vanguard - forces me to not play as I do not want some spyware shit from Chinese government on my computer. I’ll make sure to play as much as possible for the coming week and then its GG bois thanks for the ride

Seriously considering quitting league over Vanguard. Not looking foward to download chinese spyware with kernel access.

Many games you play have anti cheats with kernel level access. You're barely safe anywhere and all you will hear from these companies is "We could compromise your entire network, but we won't". I guess you havent been around League Sharp when its been on its peak. Vayne killing you with the bork passive in an eyeblink, morgana walking inside veigars wall, old katarina doing pentas in 1 second, etc. Its been so awful that the creators of that script have been sued for milions from Riot. They won a 10$mil dollar lawsuit against them. You didnt even know you played against hackers how sophisticated the script was, and trust me, there are loads of them around today as well.

Got it. Quitting league. Vanguard is unacceptable. While cutting down on the rapidly rising tide of cheaters would be nice, vanguard way oversteps being kernel level. A company saying "trust us not to do bad" is not enough. Especially not one owned by tencent. Just because a few others do it, does not make it ok. This will also kill off the small but present linux playerbase to add an anti-cheat that is often (and currently) bypassed in spite of the hype.

@@dylanhoan433 the biggest disappointment for me when arena came was how they promoted it as a 2v2v2v2 but it ended up not being that and instead being a series of alternating 2v2s. The idea of being in a teamfight and the two champions in front of you not only being enemies with you but also each other sounds like it could be kind of chaotic and fun.

Agree, but i can see problem is... I Can all chat the other 3 to burst 1 team first. basically persuading other team to team up with you against others. Unless they chat ban all and can only talk to ur team

Vanguard is already on our radar. I suspect given Valorant's increased popularity and League's much higher visibility in the media, it's going to be on a lot of government radars very quickly. We needed anticheat, but Vanguard is not secure. Final nail?

Vanguard is worse than a kernel btw. It roots itself into your os wich means, even if "you remove it from your system" it will still be present on your pc, and it's also a chinese spyware. I think it's a good enough reason to quit league.

Battleye, EasyAntiCheat, Riccochet, all run on kernal level as well, any of the drivers you install as well. there was drama where ASUS had a driver that was exploitable and gave kernal level access to anyone who used it to elevate priv. Nothing new about kernal level AC. stop scaring yourself.

They aren't "always-on" And what makes you think people here touch the games using those with a ten foot pole anyway? There's also a biiig difference between drivers (lots of which are open source) and something that's designed to interfere with your system and prevent you from doing something. I don't know why you're coping so damn hard.

Vanguard... enough said. It's been fun, been playing since season 2 but through all the ups and downs nothing this bad has been announced. Time to move on to bigger and better games

@@dyanosis Which is a big Problem, since bringing out new Content every 2 months wont improve your Game if the Content sometimes isnt fully finished nor functional, or if the old Content wont get priotized getting polished to be up to date, which leads to a cycle of "Old untouched Content gets forgotten because new Content gets added". Sure there are some Champions like Yi and Garen who are just so Solid they are always somewhat relevant but with the shier amount of champions riot just spits out onto the rift theyre rather the exceptions. Nevermind the Fact that there are alot of old Game Modes which were loved by the Community, such as Black Market Brawlers or Doom Bots of Doom which have never been added to the Game afterwards, instead we keep getting Ultimate Spellbook, Arena, One for All and Ultra Rapid-Fire on Repeat, which doesnt mean those Gamemodes arent fun or Bad, but theyre just boring to play after the 6th repeat or so

Finally getting something done. They couldn't release a new gamemode for like a decade now. and even removed the 3v3.

I'm only Emerald so I guess I'm probably biased, but I've never thought cheating was much of an issue in League? I've only ever seen a handful of obvious Xerath scripters in my games over the years, so I'm surprised they are bringing in Vanguard despite all the negative publicity it had with Valorant.

People saying someone is "scripting" in their game probably can't think of a thing to blame their own mistake for. Can't remember the last time I played against a scripter, and the times someone sidestepped something looking very weird is probably lucky movement on their part.

Time to learn Dota. Giant L Riot Games, congratulations. I've played for like 8 years, but year after year... 2023 "Type Karthus ult" drama. I can't anymore.

But there ARE and not just 1 or 2, players complaining, saying it is bad for the game, and blá blá blá. We already saw, Phreak giving 0 shits to the playerbase and many other rioters, last years the biggest scandal were the "Just type Karthus ult", and the chat ban due to "Samira has Dirk" And what Riot does? NOTHING! They don't care, and they keep not caring. I don't know if Dota is any better, but everyone says to me "Everything is broken, so nothing is, good luck"

I was so excited for the 2024 season and changes... and then they dropped the Vanguard bomb. I simply can't give that level of control over my hardware to anyone, even Riot, just to play a game. I'm really hoping Riot rethinks this decision. Riot, I love you, I love the game, but unfortunately I can't accept this.

It fucked with my new pc. Made everything laggy and slow. WHen i went to unistal it it blue screened my comptuer. Had to flash the bios and repair windows on a USB. It is horrible.

Abaolutely insane they'd consider vanguard is something the community will just accept to take in your entire data just to get bypassed by whoever wishes to take that data as if Valorant didn't serve as an example

Actually Valorant is regarded as having one of the best anti-cheats of any game. What example did Valorant set that Vanguard is ineffective? Valorant didn't have any data breach regarding Vanguard and no reports of Vanguard taking any of the user's data.

No offense but you probably don’t have to play against scripters in high elo. It’s become more prevalent this season for me. A grandmaster scripter on zeri will win probably 70-75% of his games in GM elo (until his account gets banned). I’m really excited about this change. The fact is that counter-strike 2 has an incredibly dedicated player base who are incredibly unsatisfied with the current state of cheaters in their game. Many of the players are begging for valve to add intrusive anti-cheat to their official servers. Another section of the community plays FACE-IT match making where they have to pay money and submit to the same kernel level anti-cheat to play. Valorant does not have these problems.

I don't speak for C1 players but I am GM. I've ran into and lost against cheaters probably three times in my last 70 or so games. It was really obvious to me. There might be more that I didn't notice, though. I even added one of the cheaters as a friend so I could avoid him in queue, because I felt that he was totally safe from being banned and would be able to keep appearing in my games otherwise. I already have Vanguard on my computer since I play VALORANT casually, so I don't mind at all. @@JasonAtlas

I don't think more than 0.01% of Riot games have legitimate cheaters in it to warrant such a massive system for it.

Have you ever seen Iron league? That's where all the bots/cheaters are. Which then sell their accounts to smurfs. Tackling the cheaters in all those meaningless Iron games will help with dealing with all the smurfs in the games that do matter. And terminating disruptive matches could also be upgraded to include game disruptive behaviour like in DotA2. In DotA2 if you run it down mid and go 0/10 within 10 minutes (roughly as fast as you could die and respawn) the game will often become free to leave because they detected game disruptive behaviour.

you guys dont see scripters/hackers in low elo cause they play way to to good to be in low elo they gather all in higher elos. You will only encounter scripters/hackers in low elo when they are about to climb and they probably do it very fast and most people wont even see it as scripting probably.

Oh yes, i will need to install a new OS only to play league, not using this kernel backdoor on my main OS.

Uninstall make you think its gone but how would you know its gone? You dont know and you cannot proof thats its gone. THATS the whole point to the problem. If someone lies to you and say to you "I am not lie to you" how would you know? For normal programms thats not an issue. The only thing you have is Trust. And thats a Problem because Tencent is not known for that at all.

Vanguard is not required for stopping a game when a cheater is detected... or hardware-banning offendants... Honestly, I feel like Tencent is pushing their data collection hard right here. Once Vanguard releases in League, I'm out.

But I feel like the debate surrounding Vanguard has been ongoing for too long. Riot will just push their spyware and market it as benefiting players, while undetectable Valorant ESPs and Aimbots are one Discord-join and 30€ away.

A compromise would be something that isn't owned by chinese spyware company, also there's now a literal law in China, companies requiring to help them spying.

I'm interested to know if the anti-cheat will affect the players who use custom skins. I don't use them (I barely use in-game skins), but I know a lot of people do… and I don't want to ‘remake’ every another game 'cause somebody's using them.

They will. The custom skin client will just be detected as cheats because it technically works nearly the same way as cheats

Wait, is arena now gonna be played with 16 players is that gonna be a new sub type of Arena? Bcs if they increase the numbers of players, the games are gonna be longer and it would lose purpose as a fast and fun mode

@@kyzma4444 - No support for Linux/Mac - No support for VMs (ex. can't be used through services like Geforce Now) - No support for custom skins - No custom maps/caster - No support for skin selectors (I have skins on my main account, I don't intend to buy them again on a secondary account) - No support for tools like porofesor/blitz - Extremely invasive (runs ALWAYS on background starting as soon as possible) - Requires BIOS changes on some PCs - Higher PC resource usage - Previous record on causing hardware damage (!!!) - Completely opaque software with extremely advanced privileges All of this just to potentially catch some scripters who will 100% find a way to bypass it eventually? No thanks. I've been playing this game since late S2 and this is probably the worst thing they've done.

I have Vanguard installed and have never had performance issues. Only people I can understand the complaints from is anyone who uses custom skins. That's it. The rest are just whiners that don't know what they're talking about.

I hope it's Singed who is that Arcane character getting the VGU. His arcane version has so much potential

He only said that Vanguard dont collect or process it *BUT* it is possible to clarify the statements if we consider specific roles and responsibilities. For example, an individual might not personally collect or process personal information *but instead* perform the task of transferring it as part of their job. In this case, they are involved in the process of transferring the information without directly collecting or processing it themselves.

Its a Kernel Programm. They can do anything anytime. You cannot even uninstall it if they like. Or they just show you nothing. Words dont matter here. Everything they say its not bound to anything. They can do everything in the future. It dont matter what they say. Its a time bomb. They even can block you from using your pc if they like. Its funny. There is a reason even MS says DONT DO IT.

we got multiple possibility, orianna or warwick as new character (i feel like this season will have more of singed past and probably will answer the question is ori singed's daughter), or perhaps singed or viktor since they didnt get a arcane skin with the 1st season (and viktor lore changed a bti with the release of arcane in the canon)

I wish riot released all the game modes like urf or one for all but just in custom games. That way there's no actual queue for it and you just join custom games to play those modes. And bring back Dominion map so we can play hide and seek or find the teemo again!

I'm kinda scared of Vanguard, as many people said that it has some issues with hardware. It's basically can shut down your computer forever, and you have to go buy a new one? I believe. Some people playing Valorant said that their computer got corrupted or malfunctioned because of it, and I have very much old computer, and I believe that might become a problem for some league players later on, when they'll be forced to install Vanguard without knowing these issues.

i dont recall extreme cases like those but it is likely possible due to vanguard messing with system files which can kinda brick your hardware if you fuck around with them but its a very very low chance

When I tried to uninstall Valorant and vanguard it legit didnt let me. It also made my cpu rise to 70-80% on startup while not doing anything. It felt like Riot just made me install a virus. Booted my pc up in safe mode and deleted the motherfucker. Made me never try Valorant again, and if its just as problematic on League I might quit this too.

I uninstalled it so many times, probably its ur problem that it didnt uninstall there is an issue from your pc, for me its easy to uninstall and it gets removed

Even if you do you cannot know if its uninstalled because they can change everything at runtime.... thats the f problem. You say you uninstalled it but how? Because its seems so? Must be his pc thats a problem not a program were even MS says dont use it because its a big security risk.

if the game instantly terminates with cheaters, wont they just test their stuff on a smurf, if they dont get caught they know they can abuse it on their main? also duoing with the cheater, if the premates arent punished there is no risk to this

They would need a smurf PC as well since they mentioned hardware bans, meaning that if you get banned on one account, they make it so that you cannot play on that PC again, doesnt matter which account. I could be wrong, Im not too knowledgeable on all this.

@@footballholic_R10 Hardware bans are based on unique hardware ID, not on internet IP. I mean, that's still a relevant issue for internet cafes when people get IP banned, but.. who plays league at an internet cafe?

am not installing malware I think is time to move on to different games.

I remember seeing Vanguard activated on my pc even tho hadn’t launched Valorant this session. So I went into task managed and removed Vanguard turning on every time I boot up pc... which is already criminal imo. And then I did a right click > close Vanguard on the icon in the bottom right... And then my PC did a blue screen and I had to reboot it. Great stuff. I wonder what kind of shenanigans Vanguard was doing on my PC for it to blue screen it when I suddenly close it. Very cool Rito

​@@capivara1955You need secure boot enabled to run Vanguard. Which I think 1/4 of playerbase just can't do at all. XD Fuck vanguard and fuck riot games Literally impossible to play on my linux laptop now. Even dual boot doesnt work because it needs secure boot enabled.

I see literally NO ONE mentioning that Blitzcrank is a great candidate for the Arcane VGU. Essentially the only two champs that it could be are Singed and Blitzcrank, every other one doesn't have gameplay issues. Everyone keeps saying Singed but like. They have stated that VGUs can end up alienating the original playerbase, just consider how unique Singeds gameplay is, a vgu would probably destroy that. Blitzcrank is very outdated, being very similar to Malphite as having just a singular ability to their usefulness/identity, Q. Viktor literally will make Blitz in the future and I see it happening in S2. Not to mention Blitzcrank has the 9th oldest model in the game and Singed already got a visual update. Am I crazy or what, seriously how have I seen no one mention him. We got Warwick VGU before we even knew about Arcane, so Blitzcrank can easily be that VGU right..?
