I love 70s TV detective shows of all time like Kojak, Police Woman, Columbo, Harry O and many others too Harry O ran on ABC from 1974 to 1976 after two seasons when it was cancelled it was a great show but they should have stayed on forever!!!! Thanks so much for posting this video!!! I love it!!!! I love the 70s!!!! Can you dig it!!!!!

best show ever. I bought a bootleg set 10or 12 years ago, some episodes won't play right anymore. time to order the real ones now that they're out.

Farrah Fawcett Majors she was great and the chemistry between the two characters it was great she really cared about him

When Harold discusses his story with Harry in the stairway ….Harry’s lines “I drink”…. “Harold, how’d that work out for you” 😂 very clever writing

As a teen ager, used to watch Fugitive and High Chaparral. I was very excited to see Henry Darrow and David Jansen starring together. Just heard Henry Darrow's passing today. So Sad!

At least Jim Rockford had an answering machine.

Highlite is the General Telephone model "Black 80" made by Automatic Electric... but I only watched to see if they show the Austin Healy Sprite he supposedly drove in this series... but not surprised it was in the shop for repairs...

Brilliant relaxing tv for the 70s and the music well it is still haunting

My family loved Harry O back in the day. I think, from clips I've seen, that it might be a series that would hold up today. It's not on a TV channel I can get. I've looked for a dvd set, but I can't find one for the UK region. I can only hope. Thanks for the memory, anyway. :-)

In some ways that was the point David Janssen and Harry Orwell a real sense for one in the same by the time the series was made David Janssen was world-weary in a real sense he was the character Harry oh

I must correct the guest list up top the actress in Gertrude her first name is Julie not Jill she went on to be on matlock

I think I saw an episode with James Franciscus as a guest star, not sure of it.

The quality of cinematography, editing, writing, directing, music and acting training was better back in the day, IMO. You can tell the average age of talent behind the camera was older back then and they had to work their way up to camera operator, editor or director. What's up with the crap you see on Netflix these days? Actors mumbling incoherently, horrid dialog, camera by photographers, where's the story telling art gone? Just look at this scene. You don't see the likes of it much these days.

Completely agree; all we have now is high tech cinematography and effects, but you can keep them. Everything creative is sub standard this century compared to the last - I can't think of a good film after Jurassic Park.

@@FiveLiver Oh I'm not saying their hasn't been good films since. And there still is good directors and good editors. It's just that much of the stuff that's pushed on us now that we're told is good is largely rubbish. Dunkirk comes to mind. Was supposed to a "war epic". My God was it garbage. What a script. What dialogue. What a soundtrack. Holy hell it was bad. Nolan goes on talking about how much he cares about film/digital like a real auteur direction, yet he approved that script? It was a bad first draft at best-at best.

@@savedfaves Dunkirk is one of the few recent films I've looked at - probably the first film featuring the British army I have switched off after a few minutes. My beliefs confirmed. More like a provocation than an entertainment.

It should say, “available in DVD on Amazon, if you visit Warner Archive expecting to stream this series you will be wasting your time, but we will show you an ad for this series and you can click a link to buy the DVD on Amazon...or you can just torrent it because we annoyed you by talking lies”

You're right, Janssen was one of these actors who looked older than he actually was ... George C Scott was another one and so was Lee Marvin ... heavy drinkers, all of them.

Old time actors like Janssen went through the Great Depression and the killingest war ever. These days we're so used to 50-year-old actors looking and acting like Peter Pans, bland and boyish: Johnny Depp, Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington and on and on...

Maybe it's time for a hairy o. Movie maybe Robert Downey jr. As Harry o.

Series was here a few weeks ago. Deleted...

A Rockford clone. Great actor. But TV execs aren't exactly known for their vision and creativity.

They both came out in 1974. Rockford was a few months earlier so you're probably right. :)

Not a Rockford clone. Harry O came first. Granted, only by a day. Harry O first aired on Sept. 12 1974. Rockford hit the air on Sept. 13,1974. Though Harry O had two pilots one aired on March 11, 1973, the other on Feb. 3, 1974. The two greatest private eye shows ever. Harry O was canceled to make room for Charlie"s Angels. The women were beautiful, but it makes you want to puke.

Right. Because in Hollywood, producers have NO IDEA ahead of time what another studio is planning to do in an upcoming season. :-)

So, having not aired, they heard that one network was creating a new detective show, so after watching it on the one day, the next day they created and aired their show.
