Back in the 60s, we only had channels 2-13, and the quality of programs that were on in those days was greater than what we get today with over 500 channels.

I never saw David Janssen as "himself". You could tell he was nervous and was probably shy in real life.

@cnomad Reading the varied books on "The Fugitive" he had that shyness to him and it helped him gravitate toward the film crews - by all accounts I've read the ordinary film crews all loved him.

@DanMan869 Interesting that they promote "The Fugitive" here, as this was the second season and it was when "The Fugitive" was truly taking off.

Why if they saw TV and the way they act today they would be turning over in the graves .. great entertainment back then.

@STP43FAN1 I read the same thing about him many times. Every film crew loved him, thought he was a real pro, and treated him as one of their own.

Bring back the variety show. The Folies Bergiere just closed in Las Vegas at the Tropicana. It's a show format that is fast disappearing.

yes , I read a bit about him . I think that was his nature but then maybe his first dad had a big influence on him

It's obvious that Janssen was nervous about hosting a variety program. He even said that he could not sing or dance. Perhaps his excessive drinking over the years resulted from his shy personality. It is such a shame that he died at the young age of 49. Maybe Janssen might have lived longer had he taken better care of his health.

He passed a very thorough physical for studio insurance purposes less than a week before he died. He'd told friends about a month before his decease that he was going to divorce Dani. On the day he died, Dani showed up uninvited and dismissed his housekeeper/cook, saying she was going to make him a special meal. There were rumours at the time. And I still wonder.

@@clearday9525 his wife murdered him for the insurance money. It was even foreshadowed in a episode of harry o. Dave Jannsen was murdered. Tina Sinatra and others covered it up.
