If you are a victim of domestic abuse, please reach out to someone for help. Please call the national domestic abuse hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE. That’s 1-800-799-7233 or go to thehotline.org to chat with someone online. The great thing about this website is that, at any time, hitting the escape key twice will instantly take your browser to a google search page. In the event the abuser is nearby, you can ensure that you don’t get caught trying to get help.
If you are having feelings of harming yourself or someone else or even just need someone to talk to, please contact your local mental health facility, call 911 or call Mental Health America who operate the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK. That’s 1-800-273-8255. They’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

im not even a gun guy and im in canada but ALL women should be given gun safety drills and carry one and another weapon like bear spray that can stun their movements quickly, too many men entitled to women and get angry and lash out on the girl as an easy scapegoat like a child, it takes 1 moment for a guy to do something that will end her life in a flash and we will just say oh she shouldve couldve wouldve after hindsight, women need better ways to protect themselves from creeps and the ones in their own family too, theyre not safe anywhere

@@patriciahoward7447 yeah the same thing happened to me... the man im married to.and have been with since age 17(I'm.now.40) didn't have an overly close relationship with his dad and after 3x meeting him he sent me this long and I mean like over 15K words long email about how he loves me and thinks of me while he uhhh *relieves stress* 🤢 shit like that... He than went on to call his son (my husband) and confessed to.him as.well that he was inlove with me and wanted us to move.away together ... 🤯 haha... needless to say I let my father in law know that while I understood that one cannot stop themselves from.falling in love with another person, im also of the understanding that one IS in fact capable of NOT continuing with the behaviours that led to said feelings being developed in the first place Ie: father in law should spend some time away from the family for example.... Thankfully for me my husband knew I wasn't lying and unfortunately for my now ex father in law his wife my mother in law had installed some.cams in their.home as she'd been suspish that daddy dearest wasn't being faithful to her... sure enough he admitted his feelings to.me.literally right beside the coffee table where one of the cams had been hidden in a plant capturing the entire event ... 6 weeks ltr my mother in law filed for.divorce and now here we are in 2021 about to celebrate that his sleazy ass has been gone for 10yrs now !!!!! May i also just give a huge fist bump to my.mother in law who despite the fear of.the unknown future ahead of her caused by the man she had devoted herself too turned this betrayal into one of the most inspiring and uplifting outcomes that I don't think ANYONE saw coming...

damn dude the wife was a total legend, such a kind response to the dad just really uncomfortable but very respectful response and clarified why she isnt comfortable with it. I was surprised that she knew the details about his computer build, RC car projects, what each tool was called etc. That tells me she actually spent time talking to him about his hobbies and took interest in everything. You might be suprised how many people that are being abused or are in danger may come off as if nothing is wrong, and then something like this happens and we're all shocked.

It's so dishonorable, not to mention disrespectful and dishonest. I did a job in a house Josh sold once(I’m a plumber). The owner showed me a card he gave her mom who originally bought the place. It was a pretty standard “Thank you from the Powell’s” card but it was extra creepy consider the circumstances. It had a picture of Josh, Susan, and their kids all smiling together in the card. I get the impression Josh is the sort of narcissistic person who didn’t want a family so much as a bunch of tokens that made him appear to be a family man to others.

Ever been to dinner with a group of detectives and two coroners? (I used to write True Crime) You honestly do use whatever you have in you to get through things you will never unsee and are deeply aware of how absolutely vicious humans can be to one another. And so you make jokes. Bad ones. Dark ones. Ones that never of the worst day of this world you would actually mean, because you have had to hold some family member in your arms and with everything you have left not lose it yourself -- and know that you have a gun strapped to your leg. We invented Black Humor. The table beside us asked to be reseated because of us and we laughed even harder. Once you get started you can't stop 'til you're worn out, because otherwise all you'd do would never stop crying and never go back to that office. What you wrote was perfect. Every one of these victims was a person, someone's child or sibling and deeply loved. Except for the ONE person who didn't and, I assure you, stole more than just one person's life forever.

N used tampons he saved of hers i dont want to even think of how her privacy was invaded for him to get his hands on those. Ucking gross unreal n majorly disturbing

OMG it was the 911 call too. Trying to get the operator to take the call seriously and send help. While he was literally killing the kids. Its just unbearable to listen to. If they play it on this show. Also there are some 911 horror stories where people may still be alive but for some awful operator torturing what they know is a suffering person. This case actually has that failure too uggghhhh. Ion know i cant stand josh face he looks smuckish. Susan was very pretty to me.

It really boggles my mind when the police have all this circumstantial evidence but still let them go to live their life happily for however long. Like no, this person killed someone and you need to get them off the streets ASAP!!! Please do your job.

They often do in order to try an shore up the case. Because while we know they will get a conviction now, they don't at the time. And if they do go forward with a circumstantial case and loose, and then discover more evidence (or the science gets better an reexamining old evidence gives more information) that would flat out prove their guilt they can do nothing about it due to double jeopardy. And once they arrest someone that person has the right to a "speedy trial" and if the defence things the DA's have a week case they would smart to push that before new evidence can be discovered. So it is a balancing act for the cops between do they talk their shot now, justice delayed is justice denied, and waiting to get a stronger case to be sure they can get a conviction.

I'm so glad that you split this story in to 2 parts and for covering the story all together. I read about the Powells a couple Years ago in an ann rule book. This episode did well dealing with what happened to his wife and the 2nd, I assume will deal with what he did to his kids and his father going to prison for child porn, voyeurism and stalking his underage neighbors. It's a horrible tragedy and could have been prevented because by all rights and law, they had enough to keep Josh in jail and save the boys.
