I love the format of the video and the music. But if you were following the manual you would see that when ripping you must lower the guard and set the anti ejection pawls which you did not do. Also you have not aligned your fence to the blade for ripping. and your fences appear to be fixed to the table and they should be removable and adjustable. That is a beautiful saw and when used and set up properly according to that manual it cuts flawless, rips, cross cut, bevels, miters, drilling, planing. Ive used one for many years and its very versatile and accurate.

I totally agree. RAS have a slight learning curve which many operators don't bother with. When the knowledge is aquired this is an amazing multitude use tool. In my opinion it's safer than a table saw for any cut including ripping.

I actually just got one of these for free today. Yoke won't release to switch from cross to rip at the moment, can't wait to get it in the garage and start working on it. Thinking i might try an grab a dewalt Radial instead, but we shall see. Also, They're still under a active recall as well, and Emerson will pay you $50 to destroy it. The retrofit/upgrade kits are unfortunately no longer available.

@@SpiritedMaker I'm actually going to take a jab at restoring mine.. I found a video from another content creator, Redneck MFG is his handle i believe. He does a teardown/clean/reassembly on his. It appears to be a newer model than ours, but i figured you may be interested. I'm really hoping to get my RAS back to it's initial working condition

@@Savagenerds The Craftsmans are excellent saws and when adjusted properly are extremely accurate and reliable. Most people dont have the patience or aptitude to understand a radial arm saw geometry and take the time to adjust it. Its a versatile machine and needs to be set up and calibrated. I love mine.

Had one, shot it! Got a different one, durn saw was stuck and couldn't raise or lower blade. Bye works a lot better with the safety properly installed and used. Also never never push wood through by hand always use a push board

You are missing the splitter and anti-kickback feature that's supposed to be attached to the guard housing. This feature is for ripping by rotating the guard from in-feed side to within an 1/8" of piece to be cut and then secured by locking guard screw. The next step is to loosen the splitter adjustment screw to lower splitter until anti-kickback fingers contact piece but allowed a slight play for piece to slide freely but low enough for anti-kickback to catch if piece moves backward.

@@SpiritedMaker Then by default it's only a crosscut saw until these features are attached. Rip cutting without this feature is the second most common injury and feeding saw too fast (climb cutting) is the most common cause of injury.

I wanted to bring to your attention that your table configuration is a real safety concern. Ideally, the rear table (the part situated behind the fence), should always be lower than the front table (the part situated in front of the fence). This design ensures that when the blade is positioned behind the fence, there is a gap between the top of the rear table and the bottom of the blade. This space eliminates any chance of the blade catching onto the table and inadvertently moving towards you. For further insights, you might find valuable information in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmt3zc-je5Pbpqw.htmlfeature=shared. Please take a moment to review and consider adjustments you can make to your table set up. Stay safe!

@@SpiritedMaker A good radial arm saw is a great versatile tool. It’s gotten a bad rap because people don’t know what the hell they’re doing. If you’re tight on space and or budget, this is what to buy. Personally, a Rockwell is the one to get because of its turret design. To use a radial just for cross cuts is like having a F-250 just to hall kids to soccer practice and the grocery store. Also, you didn’t have the anti-kick back on for the rip, that helps. I’m not anti-table saw or anything. The Northland Workshop channel can teach you just about everything you need to know how to use one effectively.

I can only say that this video is a joke and is why other unknowing people like you think that the saw is dangerous! I strongly suggest you read the book you showed that you have! Your table is made wrong. You most likely bought it and did not adjust it as it required for safe accurate use. You are missing the riving knife and kick back stop. You are missing the dust exhaust port. And the worst of all, you did not turn the blade guard down to just above your work when ripping. Don’t be a fool! Fix it up correctly, follow the instructions, then make a worth the time video!
