Great video full of information! My son brought home a 19801 for me today, complete with a ton of accessories. It needs a good cleaning and likely a tune-up before I start playing with it, but your video is very helpful to find out what does what. Thanks so much!

Do you have the manual for this machine? My feed dogs don't seem to be moving my fabric asking and I've cleaned all the lint out with a brush and air

Thank you so much for this! As I was playing with my new one like this model, I had loops the same time you did and immediately went to the upper threading as well haha! Higher tension makes it work for sure!

Hello! I own this model as well. I really like it, however i don’t know how to oil the bottom. The case won’t come off and the manual that I have for it doesn’t seem correct. Could you make a video demonstrating how to oil this machine?

My husband bought me this machine in 1980 for our first anniversary. I don't know what happened to my manual but I had a PDF copy on my computer, which won't boot up for me. I need a refresher on some of the settings. Do you know how I might find one? I love this machine and your video did help me with some features. Do you know anything about the feed dog?

Hello,I loved the video can learn more from my machine, but I could not see how I put the thread to get to the needle because the camera was always in front and the thread put on the left side.

Thank you! I've got this amazing machine for $40 from Goodwill, gave it for maintenance and enjoy working with it for a few years now. I just did not know what is the black part underneath the top lid. Now I know thank to you! Hurrah! I would buy those plastic inserts for that part so to use this option. How do you call them? I guess, cam inserts.

I had a kenmore from 1975 and it didn't have such a complicated bobbin winding system.Mine was right on top of machine

Great video! I love my Kenmore 158. however, it has developed a very annoying squeak coming from the bottom or the machine. It stops when the feed dogs are lowered with the lever that's under the metal extension table. It,s a model 158.15250. Any ideas?

Looking to buy a 158-19800

I just obtained a model 158.18800, but it spins when I try to sew. It did not come with a manual so that I can adjust the belts. I have searched videos for this particular model but have been unsuccessful.

I just received a Kenmore 1980 from my neighbor ,who is downsizing. Tons of accessories etc., just as demonstrated here. For some reason, the fabric isn't feeding through. I've checked the presser foot, throat plate, settings, and I'm coming up blank. Any suggestions? Btw...I have a complete manual if someone needs copies of it. (Unfortunately the troubleshooting guide did not help my problem)

I just bought this exact same machine on E Bay, it also had no power cord! I dug around on E Bay and found the power cord that fits it!

There are several Facebook groups for vintage Kenmores and they keep on file copies of machines. As a member of the group you can download a copy.

I know how old this video is, and it's crystal clear from your non-responses from all of these fine posters that you're not likely going to read or respond to this. OK...about that plastic gear. ALL Kenmores by this time have that same nylon gear that is notorious for cracking and failing. The 1980 also has this gear. As you should well know, this gear cannot be replaced. It's a sad fact of life. Why you're touting this to be some total metal wonder has me confused. It's not. While an 80 might not fail as often as all of the other machines Maruzen and Soryu were passing off as quality machines (they were until that gear cracked, which it often did and still often does), it still can fail, and likely will. Thought I'd let folks know this machine is as much a sheep in wolf's clothing as they come. She sews well, she's feature rich, but she can become nothing more than a paperweight when the irreplaceable nylon gear finally gives way. Most of your sales videos are upfront and frank about what the machine has under the hood. This time...nope. I'm disappointed!
