Should it be a response for which sentence not for which character. And it's not like this that computers do sums.

I am 90% sure that those are not Chinese characters but Japanese.

Searle's Chinese Room is the silliest piece of bad logic passing itself off as a serious argument EVER!! You could use his argument to "prove" that the human brain also has no understanding!
