I was actually born in the medical center area before it technically became the medical center- Methodist Hospital. Man I remember when the Northwest side started to get more populated. I remember when La Cantera was being built, which was in the late 90s when I was in HS. One time my family was trying to get to Fiesta Texas, but due to the new roads, we accidentally ended up in La Cantera lol. I am glad you mentioned the Dominion area because I know that's where some famous San Antonians (like Spur Players) have their homes there. I always think the Dominion is SA's version of Beverly Hills lol. @13:55- Uhh you made a bit of a mistake here. You ended up combing the Japanese Tea Gardens with the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. They're 2 different places. I can see you were focusing more on Japanese Tea Garden though. Southside is very different depending on where you live. Southeast side you're more likely to find a bigger population of African Americans, where as South Central, you'll find more Hispanics. My first college was Palo Alto College on the Southside and I wager over 70% of the students there were Hispanic (I am blonde, I felt like a fish out of water at times there lol).

Also, yeah Alamo Heights is a very coveted neighborhood. When I took Education classes at UIW, I learned that the AH School district, they NEVER hired first year teachers and tend to scout for teachers, looking for the 'best of the best'. So education wise, Alamo Heights is a very good school district because you're definitely getting good quality teachers.

Great places to look would be in South San Antonio just South of Hwy 90, further out West near Castroville/Medina Lake, or further North near Hwy 46 in Spring Branch/Bulverde. You'll find things are more rural in those areas with fewer HOA's and fewer restrictions.
