If I lived in Greece, I think swimming in the sea would be a daily thing! I've been to Greece before and the water and beaches are something else!

My fav spots in the whole of Plaka beach are the 2 far sides: For the morning, by Gefyraki "The Bridge" taverna at the far east side; It has it's own parking under pines, you drive to it from the back street if it's gate is open. They don't really demand that you buy something and let you access the beach. But they got nice shade, i'll have a portokalada. It's got normal sand, not too thin and some pebbles, nice and clean. The Plaka in the water gives you protected shallow pools that can be good feature for kids and babies. And the far west side, by Ancient Assini Site, some just call that spot Asini and its large pebbles outside, sand inside. The other side of Asini castle is Kastraki and then Tolo with it's Psili Ammos beach. Asini beach is accessible from Kastraki, by a small dirt road between the ancient site and camping site. Between these 3 beaches, Plaka/Asini, Kastraki and Tolo, one can see all the types of seashore, from thin golden sand to large pebbles.

I hate organised sunbeds/umbrellas and noisy beach bars and all the mindset that goes along with it! Imagine, not so many years ago, there were none of that and it was much much nicer. Not to mention that you don't ground when you don't lie down on earth. And, guess what, I avoid beach crowds too. 😁

Watch out for sea urchins. If you have your own umbrellas you can go further, bypass the hotel, further away the beach will be almost empty.

Yes nice hat Daniel. Take care of yourself. When I swim, it is very short. I get a bit bored sitting around. Also I get burned easy!

I grew up without renting sun beds. I do t like people stuck to me. And my wife likes to tan and moves our sun bed all around for maximum exposure. And I like that vibe

I am a 51 years old greek who grew up by the sea. This "ksaplostra" culture seems very ridiculous to my eyes, and it is not only about the money. Maybe i am just getting old, or all the others have a problem! 😀😀😀

In Japanese, taberuna means don't eat! And μπακαλιάρο is a kind of a curse word (like silly kid, but if you say that to a grown man, it's very rude)
