Searching for My Enslaved Ancestors Hidden in This Park

Charlottesville’s biggest park tells a familiar, racist story that haunts African Americans across the U.S.: the reality of unmarked graves. We follow descendants who have been identified as potential descendants of some of the Black people who were enslaved at Pen Park.

Yup. Also, what do you think the black and brown people from places like Africa and india might do when they become equal peers or even superior? Would you say there is still bad blood with those races, yet to be addressed?

As someone of Cree ancestry I appreciate your comment. I likely have family in northern Alberta buried unmarked in residential schools and I honestly hope one day I can find them. Im glad its getting more attention lately but its a huge problem here in Canada that still needs to be addressed properly

I've always wonderd why hollywood creatives have never written a serious horror film about an AfricanAmerican burial ground or mass grave, or write a serious horror film (not campy or cartoony) about a Native American burial ground & mass grave? With the way Hollywood contiunes to change, Wakanda Forever, the tv show Reservation Dogs etc, such films could happen.

It is interesting to discover even the painful history of our city. I hope there can be something more permanent to mark these graves, maybe with the names that are at least known. if there's a silver lining to this, it's that the graves are in a city park, so they aren't at risk of being built upon or in the middle of some property dispute.
