Searching for History Update: A Quick Look at Our Plans for 2024

On this Searching for History update, we talk about our places for 2024. FYI, it is looking like there will be a brief lull in content as we wait for winter to end and the rainy days to subside. However, we have a couple ideas for some European themed travel videos to come out in the meantime. More videos are coming. Don’t go anywhere! 2024 will be dedicated to exploring the Pacific Northwest and the American Southwest. In 2024 we plan to see more ruins, ghost towns, historic towns, fire lookouts, forts, lighthouses, logging camps, old cemeteries, ancient pueblos, petroglyphs, historic bridges, old growth forests, and anything else we can find related to history! Stay tuned! If you have ideas for cool places to see, let us know in the comments below. It is going to be an existing year! Thanks for watching!

We have Steptoe Butte on our list. Hopefully we will be able to make it over there this year!

Thanks for the update. We lived in Colorado for 11 years and explored a lot of the adjacent states. There's tons of indigenous, Spanish, and old US west history there as you know. We only made 2 videos, so I'll link them, but the 4 corners area of CO/UT/AZ/NM is full of stuff to see.

Yes, the four corners area is incredible. After work today I will check out the two videos. Thanks!

Just found your channel and enjoying your videos! I'm out near Rainier and try to do a daytrip most weekends and you're revealing some new options for me. I also love red rock country and focused on SW archaeology when an undergrad. If you'll be in Utah, I definitely recommend Moab as a base for then exploring Arches and Canyonlands. I visited a few years ago with a sister and cousin and the best money we spent was to pay for backcountry jeep tours (unless you are a major thrill seeker, you do NOT want to drive some of the off-road trips there!). Lots of beautiful country to see and LOTS of archaeological wonders (and not just petroglyphs, but pictographs...two different things!). If you are headed to places like Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon, consider Canyon de Chelly and Hubbell Trading Post (not the same location) are two places I think you'd enjoy. There is just SO MUCH to see in the SW...definitely not a one-and-done trip 😊

I am glad you found our channel. Yes, we love the southwest too. I am working on getting our Jeep set up for overlanding and hope to have some adventures outside of Moab. We are currently planning a trip to Arizona for this fall. Can't wait! have never heard of Hubbell Trading Post, I will look into that. We spend most Saturday's day tripping to various sites in Washington and have a few weekend trips planned. I have a fairly long list of potential videos. Our goal is a new video every Sunday so stay tuned! Thanks for watching!

Our family has found interest in the communities, culture, and history associated with Hood Canal. We have realized not many people go there and yet it is scenic and interesting. Maybe you can produce in 2024 a few episodes about that area of the PNW.

Thanks for showing interest in our channel! I will take a look and see if I can come up with something interesting to highlight about the Hood Canal area.

@@searchingforhistory Thanks. My grandparents had a summer house in Tahuya on Tahuya Bay. It was a barn converted to a house and 20 feet from the water. We were told the family who homesteaded the area built the barn but died off from some disease. While exploring the woods around the barn, we would discover graves of family members. Kind of creepy but fun for five adventurous brothers.

That sounds like a pretty cool childhood. Those graves would be interesting to see.
