Searching For A Remote Gold Mine and Waterfall

High up in these mountains lies a remote gold mine that has remained idle for the last 80 years. Started back in 1915 by the owner and his three sons, this is quite the historic gold mine. The amazing thing about it is the shear amount of amazing machinery still remaining at the site. The site features a ball mill, chilean mill, engines, shaker table, compressor, jaw crushers and much more! Not much remains in terms of structures, due to the Forest Service coming in and knocking down the few cabins. The ore bin is still there, but it is basically totally collapsed in on itself and has started the slow slide down the mountain. The mine workings proved to be quite extensive with a few levels to explore. Hope y'all enjoy this video, as always thanks for the support and thanks for watching!

I know exactly where you're at , you're at my mining claim . I had that mine under claim for a few years during the mid-1960's . Back then the cabins were intact and most of the machinery was still operational . A lot of work having to backpack in all of my food and supplies , I was averaging a 60 pound pack every time I hiked in . A lot of hard work but also a lot of good times . I've got a nice keepsake from the time that I worked that mine , a nice little chunk of Gold partially embedded in quartz . -- .

Woww, what an interesting story! 60 pounds of gear I couldn't imagine hauling that. Yeah, those cabins were there up until sometime in the late 70s if I remember correctly. Would have loved to see this site back then! Thanks for watching mate, your input is very much appreciated!

Isn't it sickening when you see trespassers and you know you done all that work and bingo I found like I said I put wd40 on some of the wheels the wheel for the geared pipe wouldn't move but I figured that's part of the setup for the shaker cos it was around that bit, I was asked by George Bush to investigate whether any dynamite was left behind and to report to him if their was, I had two dogs one howled the other domesticated

This site looks like it might be worth setting up base camp at the cabin site and spending a few days exploring it. It's amazing to think about how the old timers got all those heavy machines up there. 100 years from now when people find artifacts from our current day lives, all they're going to find is plastic that says "Made in China" on it. You need a drone :>

So being a car guy I seen the aluminum block. I Google it early aluminum v8 It's a 314 cu. Cadillac. They were introduced in 1914.. new then so it would not took sometime before they would of been purchased for the miners. Look at the bottom of the head the deep indent. Between the front 2 cylinders and the back 2. The water pump on the front had a pulley that looked 12inches in dia. All those extra plugs next to the plugs were clean outside to remove carbon build up. They made about 70 hp. At low rpm. 1700rpm. Not sure of the exact rpm. Parts could be worth a bunch

@@WesternMineDetective in thinking of how they got that stuff up there. Maybe they drove the trucks as close as they could with all the gear. Then stripped the trucks and pulled what was left with horses with all the gear on them/ Then cut up the chassis and used them as static generators once there. With the engines attached. Maybe somewhere near the most accessible place to those mines there are old bodies unless they have been taken away.

Good question, it's quite remote out there so I think most of it had to do with the rockslides that occur quite often. As you can see, some of the wheels to the right of the ball mill are partially covered in rock. Definitely some has been messed with by people, but seeing what's still there and intact is amazing to me.

Seeing the amount and quality of the equipment would it be to far fetch to say all this was lifted up there by airships like the hindenburg type ship? Might have been to early for that type of transport. Or it would take a very long mule train and disassembled parts and lots of manpower, food and money. Very impressive. Good job.

I believe your second theory sounds more on point. This was a family operation, definitely had mule trails going up here. Most of the machinery was welded on site. A few videos back there was a ball mill I found that had many different points of welding with the main cylinder split into about 6 pieces or so. Being hauled up one at a time. Lots of time and effort went into this operation, probably not enough gold produced to make it worth all the trouble. Thanks for watching Sharon!

Yes that's exactly what I meant obviously the pipe didn't become melded to the tree from heat. And yeah maybe it didn't almost go all the time way around in that span, I'm sure it probably took a few decades for it to do that.

Between 1934 and 1942, it yielded 50,000 dollars of gold. Prior to that I'm not sure on the numbers. This mine was first operated around 1917 or so.

Kimberlite is form in tubes from high pressure and heat. There is a specific plant that only grows on kimberlite. It's called pandanus candelabrum.. The plants in the beginning of your video look like pandanus candelabrum.. It would not be a bad idea to venture back and dig.... Diamonds any one....lol Good luck!

  • @WesternMineDetective

Well, believe they would have had a cable/tram system at this mine. Before getting the stuff semi close to the site they would have hauled the equipment and such up there disassembled and most likely by way of mule. Then they would have welded on site. I'm sure other people may be able to chime in, hopefully they do.
