He kept his cool while confronting her and did not fall for her attempts at provoking him, that's why she sported that little "attitude" throughout the interview, she lost. She wanted him to either lose his temper or to submit to her like a good western boy, he didn't and she was visibly frustrated.

The irony is that she seemed pretty spellbound by the end.
