I used to sit next to Jim Leyland at the Greektown Casino, high limit room, back when he coached the Tigers. He smoked Marlboro Reds cigarettes. He was not very talkative but when he or I would hit a jackpot($1200 or more) we would shake hands and congratulate one another. He once told me that he lived in Ohio, not too far passed the Michigan/Ohio border, but say the Tigers had 4 home games against the Yankees, Jim told me he would sleep those 3 nights in his office, then drive home after that series was finished. I did buy him a pack of smoked one time when I saw he was almost out. Very nice man, a Tiger's legend, in my mind. He's immediately behind Sparky Anderson! God bless Jim! Thanks for all the great Tiger's home games and thanks for being a down to earth person who never acted like the superstar Major League Baseball Manager that he was!

I got a picture with leyland about 90 min to game time in Detroit after he had retired... it was in the smoking area at comerica I kid you not.. idk if everyone else was afraid to approach him or didn’t recognize him in street clothes.. but he was standing hands on the rail next to me with his World Series marlins ring on otherwise I wouldn’t have noticed him... anyways the picture is hilarious, I’m happy as can be and he literally looks like it was a prison photo. He was very nice though.

You'd be surprised how many people have never seen Curb Your Enthusiasm or even know who Larry David is. But that's exactly how Larry dressed during the Fatwa episodes. I wonder if that was what Rich was going for? 😆

Baseballl.was great. Loose the goofy rules, and gaudy unmatching uniforms...belts and shoes, ugly nets, stupid rule changes, and bring back a balanced schedule. Ditch interleague play, it sucks. And please never ever have those silly asg unifroms, and um tradiitions matter , Al park, then nl park .....and please showbthe players being introduced before big games....that is such a loss to no.recognize the players for Playoffs and asg. I dont like what mlb has become At all.under this current commish.

Hey Casey, I love how in your sit down with Leyland in Jan 2024 you almost never mentioned the MARLINS and how all that went. You only focused on your crappy teams.... The only time he won a WS was with the Marlins. Look into another career and stay away from broadcasting!!!
