    Missed this video somehow. I'm glad I went back to look at it. Those flame agates are so cool. I think I like that first big one you found when you went out by yourself. Too bad they tend to have a lot of fractures. With the smaller ones, I think I'd try to slab it at about a 45 degree angle to make the slabs a little wider so they'd be big enough to make a cab. Has Terry made cabs from any of this stuff yet? I'd love to see how those look.

  • @RockhoundingLife

    @RockhoundingLife

    3 жыл бұрын

    Terry makes cabs and jewelry. He has quite the collection of seam agate from Nova Scotia. These seam agates from the river do have a lot of fractures but for me I just like to make slabs and display the nicer ones. I never thought about cutting them at an angle, might have produced less fractures. The best seam agate to get in NS are at locations along the Bay of Fundy where it falls off the cliff face fresh in the spring, they will have no fractures. Terry and I have already made some plans to go to some spots. They boys won't be able to get there because of the difficult hike into the cliffs.

  • @MichiganRocks

    @MichiganRocks

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@RockhoundingLife I didn't mean that cutting on an angle would reduce fractures, I meant that the slabs would be wider so they'd be tall enough to make a decent sized cab.
