Harbaugh's tree leads the head coach out in under 4-5 years with marginal results and back to a coordinator role or to the NCAA. Pagano, Jackson, Ryan and Fangio. Good Luck Seattle!

Uh guys... the offense was nearly top 10 in Yards per attempt last year.... the defense was bottom 3 in 3rd down conversion, one of the worst in rush YPC, and one of the worst yards allowed in the NFL... Yah the offense couldn't always score a ton of points because every time the opponent had the ball it took Seattle's D 8 minutes to get off the field while still allowing a score. Offense is really not a problem especially given Pete's conservative Tecmo Bowl style playbook. That offense has so much flipping talent it's insane... if the defense was even average Seattle would've had 11 wins and maybe a playoff win. Seattle with all their WR/OT/RB depth is easily one of the more attractive teams to be an OC for at the moment.

Seattle will be going from one of the most predictable teams to one of the most unpredictable teams

Mike Macdonald is THE kryptonite to the Shannahan offensive tree. Literally the perfect hire for Seattle. Seattle is going to really surprise people and I think quickly.

Can't believe someone really did take McDonald after his first yr back. Having him around for another year would've been great. Good luck Mike McDonald and Seattle. That dude is a defensive guru

NFC West just got really interesting.

The defense has been the big problem the last 2 years. 2nd to worse run defense. Which led to fewer possessions for an offense that relied on rhythm

As a diehard fan I can’t stand when people like this try to talk about our team without actually watching the team. This defense has been awful for years. Has the offense been the greatest no it hasn’t but this defense gives up runs like it’s nothing. We’ve been a bottom ranked defense for close to 5 years now. Now some of that is due to scheme being outdated as well as poor coaching on Pete’s side in terms of just awful tackling for years and years

Great hire by the Hawks….I think this is a better move than Ben Johnson. Hopefully Pete will still be in the building in the front office and MacDonald can pick his brain whenever he can. Nothing wrong with having a future HOF coach in the building to refer to from time to time.

Just remember it took Mcdonald two years to get the Ravens to that level. And they were not as BAD as the Hawks defense is when he took control. If he could get the Hawks in the high teens instead of the bottom next year, that would be excellent progress. Low teens year two. And the top ten in year three would be extremely fruitful.

In the PAST, the thing that was holding our offense back was O LINE PENALTIES… AND a defense that gives up points immediately on the opponent’s very next drive.

I don’t think it was Dallas giving up 48. I think Macdonald is a new age coach who can bring what’s missing in Seattle. Macdonald has given a rare talented team as a first hire. Most HC get shit teams. If he does good he could become a legend.

Defense has been broken for quite a awhile and I'm sure Coach Mike will fix that and he'll hire a Offensive coordinator to run the offense. Offense has a lot of great talent which with a guard or two is good enough to score upper twenties per game. I'm excited about seeing a new direction although all respect to Pete Carroll.

Florio doesn’t know anything. It’s hilarious how little he knows about these teams. Our Seahawks had the 30th ranked run defense. And have had bottom 10 defenses for like 3-4 years now.

Macdonald is going to take this team to the next level also adding Frazier this is getting good can't wait to see our hire of OC.

First, the defense absolutely has been the problem. Our offense was top of the league in points per play, but near the bottom in opportunities because the damn defense couldn't get off the field. It was not uncommon for us to give up 12+ play drives for half a quarter. A better defense alone, doing nothing else, will improve our offense. Second, Pete had a philosophy of only running up the A and B gaps and never throwing over the middle of the field. We all thought it was Russ, and yes he's short and probably preferred throws to the outside, but we saw it continue with Geno even though Geno is literally one of the best in the league with intermediate throws. Why don't we run outside and why do we not throw over the middle? Pete was afraid of turnovers, so much so to the point that our defense gave up free plays for years of 5-7 yards and backup QB's would eat us alive because that is their game. We can't even tackle anymore because (ask KJ) they don't even tackle in practice. All of that changes now, no more free passes for offenses. No more fear based offensive games trying to win it in the 4th.

It could be a Bears type trial, and he gets the trial coordinator, and if he does well as head coach even if they tank and get a QB next year and also the first pick on discarded offensive coordinators and head coaches. I think right now it is a rebuild team and SF's and LA's stars will be gone one way or another in 3 years, and you may draft top 10 but the coach has not done the Jets or Eagles coach meltdown and you got a QB. I would be very surprised if they keep spending on better QBs and other stars to keep competing, maybe that was the Carrol problem he will barely be around in 3 year if he only has 5 years left. They may take a shot at a QB in 2nd or 3rd round and likely end up with a Ridder, and bring in a cheaper veteran to be starter, even a restructured Geno getting over $10M in new money will be too much, someone like Trubisky is less than that.

This man really said he wanted to bring Dan Quinn home….what. Quinn is Carrol’s guy not Schneider. We want to move from that. If I’ve said this once, Ive said it a million times. Quinn has always had stud defenders and defenses. From LOB to Keanu Neal and Vic Beasley to now the cowboys with Parsons, Lawerence and Diggs. Macdonald on the other hand, doesn’t have a blue chipper on that Ravens defense and shut Mahomes and Reid to 17 total points while the Boys got slapped by the Packers. Yeah, 28-3 we want that.

Hire Sims as the offensive Cord. Time to step up Chris.

Florio is clueless sadly. Our defense is crap and our run defense is literally bottom 3 in the league. The only good thing about the defense is Witherspoon and our edge rushers (Mafe and Nwosu who got injured). Jarran Reed and Leonard Williams too but they can only do so much.

Geno Smith under contract is QB purgatory for the Seahawks, he is the epitome of an average QB and he costs too much so you cant invest in the rest of the team. If he was on back up QB money I could tolerate him but knowing he wants top 10 QB money makes me think we should cut bait. He isnt going to be the difference that gets you to a Superbowl. Draft a rookie, sign Jake Browning or Drew Lock cheap. There might be growing pains but we can fill out other parts of the roster. Perpetual mediocrity is worse than a couple of losing seasons but you make visible progress and strengthen.
