Seafoam Shock Treatment (Cheap Outboard Motor Fix)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Seafoam Shock Treatment - PWF's Brandon shares a tip for fixing your outboard motor cheap and quickly with Seafoam. Follow the step by step instructions to make your 2-stroke or 4-stroke motor run like new again. Seafoam will help to remove any carbon build up in your motor
Seafoam - amzn.to/3eXni6N
Fuel Line - amzn.to/2M170ev
Gas Tank - amzn.to/2LXXKb7
Mercury Fuel Filter - amzn.to/3zeLB9o
*Apologies, this motor ISN'T carbureted, but this treatment works on carbureted or fuel injected motors like mine. Meant to say this treatment will help remove Carbon deposits in motor and exhaust... regardless, IT WORKS!

This worked for me. The smoke was crazy!!!!
In conclusion after reading 75 replies: anyone who asks a question in here will 100% not get a reply so dont bother asking questions here. However you will get a thumbs up. Yay! 2nd it seems the jury is out on Sea Foam, the guys who use it either have mixed results or terrible results the guys who use it and say it's great are few. The replys I read against using sea foam seem much more valid with good explanations. Verdict is hung jury. My advice: just do regular maintenance, use proper fuel oil ratios 100% of time, dont use last years gasoline, store motor in building above freezing during winter, run all your fuel out of motor when in the water before trailering by disconnecting fuel supply line until engine dies, dont be afraid to use full throttle for more than 15 minutes during every outing, and let motor run for several minutes before taking off and lastly dont use premium octane in motors built for 87 and 89 octane. Avoid ethanol. And when rebuilding carb kit only use factory and never aftermarket plus never forget to change out the float when doing carb kit cleaning/ rebuild. Tip: put a marker board in your garage and log all your small combustible engine specs and always winterize your engines. I guarantee if you follow these basic guidelines you'll be able to run your same outboard until your grandson is ready for a timeless hand me down. As of right now the only thumbs up is my own. 🤣

👍 similar to your body. Don’t ever eat fast food or anything in a box or bag, exercise, take vitamins, get 8 hours of sleep and you will live to see 100. Unfortunately, like our bodies people don’t take perfect care of their boats. This isn’t a miracle drug but does help depending on if there isn’t other underlying issues. Thanks for your comment and input. Good luck on the water

I did the same thing earlier this year, before I saw this video, on a 2001 50 HP Yamaha outboard on the trailer with muffs. I also sprayed the carbs while it was running. Then, I let the Seafoam sit in the carbs for a week before running the second half gallon through in the same manner. One thing “power tuning” (what this process is known as) does, especially on two strokes, is decarbons deposits between ring lands, and frees stuck piston rings. I’ve taken some customers two strokes that were known to be mixed rich, and had varying compression numbers between cylinders, and completely remedy them after intently performing a “power tune” to their outboards. Some of the older service manuals actually state you should do this every couple seasons, sometimes every season, to ensure proper piston ring performance.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant Idea. My boat takes 180 gallons to fill (90 per tank). You just saved me a fortune and I'm not even convinced this stuff works. Yes, and you can use Mercury Quickleen product in every other tank.
A typical carb clean will do fine...carbs don't collect carbon..thats on the exhaust side of combustion...all its doing is cleaning the air and valve ports in the carb body...same as can be done with simple carb clean.. Ethonal doesn't hurt a 2 stroke it's the absorption if moisture it accumulates when not in a sealed system...and also the fuel lines needs changing on most old models because of cheap lining separation and then crumbling up and clogging up the carb...also it'll gell up in the bowl if left to long ... I tell all my people not to buy more than you'll need for a trip out if your not going regularly because of the gas going bad so fast these days...on the positive side of ethanol added is you don't have that pre ignition cladder climbing hills in our auto's... Some ask what is ethanol ? It's corn licker...pure dragster fuel...lol...
I bought a 2020 Tracker Classic XL a year and a half ago and have run 1 oz per gallon of regular gas ( live in CA so ethanol gas is available). This have kept my Mercury 4 Stroke 50 HP running tops with zero issues. I do change oils regularly.
Add startron to all your gas and you won’t have to deal with this. I have a Honda quad at cabin that I only use during deer season. Starts up and runs smooth for the last 12 years. I treat all my storage gas cans and seasonal equipment with it. Chainsaws, generator, snowblower………
Trying it today and wont forget the black leather gloves or liquid paper on a bee. Thank you sir.

Seafoam is a great product, I reccomend it with every tank diluted vs the treatment process. Especially when you burn ethanol gas. I've never been a fan of shock treatments for an internal combustion engine and the fuel delivery system. It may even the idle out but its not healthy for the engine long term. I've seen too many engines require major overhauls long before they should who wait and use this product vs maintaining the cleanest system possible.

On an older boat how would you rev without throttling forward? Warm up lever?
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing

Not sure. Mine has a button that takes it out of gear and allows me to rev motor. I suppose you could drive slowly around the lake. Not sure that would be the safest thing to do though.
i put some water up gas in my truck made it run like well not good .i put seafoam in and ran it for a good while. next day it made all the water in the tank go away. total fix.

Seafoam is designed to break down debris in your system/lines. If you have ethanol in your lines this will speed up the process of cleaning those lines which can add debris to your gas. Sucks initially but good in the long run once it is all out. That’s why I recommend replacing lines, fuel filter and spark plugs after shock treatment.

so I have 1985 mercury 150hp black max and looks like one cylinder isn't giving out compression. I have changed my spark plug and I'm getting spark on all 6. Can using using this seafood fix the problem? My issue that I have is when I give it throttle and it gets up to speed for about 7-10 seconds it Boggs down and then shuts off? any ideas on what causes that?

I'm curious for an answer too. My 1978 200hp Black Max does the same thing you describe. Plugs are all new, but I need to check compression, change fuel filter and pump and try this sea foam thing. Check my shorts, I am just in the beginning stages of getting this thing up and running after sitting for 10 years.

Not sure how your 2 stroke works but mine injects the oil into the gas and others you have to mix the oil into your boat gas each time you fill up. Might have to do some searching on how yours works. You don’t need to pour seafoam in your gas every time you fill up but a few times a year is a good idea. Also, Make sure you use 100% pure gas, no ethanol. Ethanol will tear up your motor over time. Email me at prestigeworldwidefishing@gmail.com if you still aren’t sure and we will figure out how it works.
