Sea Harvester: Exhaust and Wrapping up the Project

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video we fabricate the exhaust and wrap up a few finishing touches. We make simple deck fitting for the deck pump and modify the hatch for the new exhaust height. Finally we spray some gel coat, adjust the tiller/ram and she is ready for sea trial.

Thank you for getting back to me I'm really intrested in the timeout. I did a similar project years back 31 Bertram gas to diesel what a job. We put 350 Cummins's and She ran 36 mph Just what the customer wanted anyway thanks guys.

I do have some footage on time out. Its been a LOT of fiberglass work and detail work that doesnt show up on camera really great. But since you asked, I will definitely try to kick this back into gear and do an update on the time out. Thanks.

Awesome job guys! I’m not familiar with the surge tube. Obviously a back flow preventer. Other then controlling noise. Is there a reason to have the exhaust under water and not exit above the water line?

why are all deck fittings pipe thread and not JIC, even for hydraulics?

We only highlighted one deck fitting in this video and that was for a water hose. Are you spotting some other deck fittings that I didn't specifically highlight? Or are you referring to other videos like the lobster boat? Obviously, NPT is very universal and we have a host of NPT to Flare or other types of fittings, so NPT is a good way to go in general, But often we make deck plates with other fittings as well, it just may not have gotten captured by our camera.

@@SeaboardMarineIncVideos no just in general every boat I've seen, every welder that's made one, it's always been npt. Hate having fittings stacked up

Yeah well one reason with us is that we like to keep the deck plates 100% stainless, and a lot of our other fittings are not stainless. We always stock NPT couplers and nipples in SS. Another thing is that flare fittings can wear out, where NPT lasts pretty much forever. So this allows an easy swap of a worn fitting. So yeah it might be a little cleaner to weld the flare fittings straight to the deck plate, and if you are doing it for your own boat that might totally make sense, but there are some tradeoffs and our customers may not have the means to weld up a new deck plate, so this allows them to perform their own maintenance. Personally I think either way is fine. If you have the flare handy in SS and you weld it straight to the plate, that's all good, we definitely do that sometimes. I think the deck plate for anchor winch for the sea harvester had two flare fittings that I welded to it if I recall.
