John, if you pull the prawn trap 18" up the wall/ off the bottom, you should get more prawn or shrimp and not so many crab👍

2023 November, December mackerel were still getting caught in low digits 8 and 6s, we were targeting herring at night, on the small sabki feathers and using head lights or flashing lights on the feathers. Mackerel came late to dun loaghaire Dublin. Late August all September, October catching them in the high digits and 30s, 60 one morning between 4 of us, good fun Enjoy watching your fishing and keeping it real, like a Bosh 👊

Never mind John, when it happens, it happens, when it doesn't, it doesn't. What's important is that you got out there and had a great time with others too. Enjoy the experience and do it again...!

Just one of those nights I think but the deeper channel is between the breakwater and the boat pens. The channel was dredged many years ago for the huge tug boats that were in the harbour. As for the large fish you saw it's mullet as there are quite a few in the harbour plus a bass would have been spooked right away. I've actually caught loads of coalfish from that spot on fathers around this time of yeas as they shoaling after white bait. As for the mackerel I'm not really surprised as the water temp is still 14c as we haven't had any frost. I've also fished the first spot you went to and had conger and we also used chum. We put the whole lot in a hessian sack and lowered it down the side so you get a lot more slick coming from it. If you try that other spot I told you about past the breakwater (daleks) then you will get codling there but use lug or rag as bait and fish 2 hours up and 2 hours down. It's great to see you out fishing again John and we do appreciate you making these videos for us. I have a great photo of the rocks before the breakwater was built but not sure how I can add it to a message. Keep the videos coming my friend and best of luck on your next session.

You couldn't done anymore. As you said, that is real fishing. My theory is that the fish are stuffed with all the bait fish in the water. If they are not feeding or feeding on bait that you haven't got, there is nothing you can do. Tight lines for the next adventure.

Have you thought of using a cage feeder for your chum?

Smaller tides are better for the congers at the harbour, fish the breakwater and cast along the edge of the back wall, towards the boulders on the inside and the other side of the channel, you should find more and better fish! 👍🏻🎣

HEY up Jonno may be it was too lit up where you was fishing and not anuff cover on the bottom for conger eels to hide out what about putting carp bags on and filling them up with chum same as carp fishing all ways wondered if it wood work to attract bigger fish and smaller Leeds 2oz don't think you need a gripping leed though all the best from Paul from Staffordshire 🇬🇧 👍

Too flat I think. Spring Tides at the moment but just not enough swell in the water. You would have been better off at the Sout West of Anglesey with these wind directions. Those Mackerel you saw could have been Herring feeding on small plankton since the water there is green and rich with plankton at the moment. I was up there last week and saw the Dolphins chasing the Herring.
