Hi John, a few words of advice, you need to use a shorter rod about 13' and much stiffer to get those conger out of those rocks quickly also try a multiplier like an ABU 9000 loaded with 50 or 60lb mono. also always remove the tails from the mackerel you use as bait as it stops them spinning in the tide, and put the hook through both jaws of the bait for the same reason

Thanks John. Really enjoyed your vid. People don’t realise the amount of work it takes to be creative.

I also think the hooks may be too big as something is picking up the bait but just not connecting with the larger hooks. I've had congers dropping down the side facing the sea but a bugger to land. The bigger congers are in the harbour off the large slate blocks as you approach the Breakwater. Quite deep water there as the harbour was dredged for the 2 large tug boast that were there when the Shell terminal was up and running. I like your honest style of filming and if you blank you blank and sometimes even the best of us do. As far as being an average fisherman you are far from it, double figure bass and some huge huss from the shore, keep it up my friend it's a great hobby. Anyway if it was that easy it would be called catching and not fishing lol.

Those bites looked like classic doggy bites, you probably needed smaller baits and hooks to connect with them - thats if you want to catch doggies!😁

Probably dogs, possibly whiting. I've had a few LRF sessions on there recently using size 12 hooks. Amazing how many species you can get there.

Try a pennel with a circle hook up as the top hook.
